http://www.centralcitybrewing.com/ourbrews.htm Beer made not far from our area. But we don't care for beer. Anyway..

http://voices.washingtonpost.com/all-we-can-eat/wine/wine-red-bicyclette-isnt-what.html Firm was charged for 'faking' their wine. Their label did used to be a drawing of beret capped Frenchman on bike. I nearly bought this wine a few years ago but decided I had too much baggage when I was visiting another city.

Ha, my partner has bought the Red Bicyclette wine before because it has a bike on it. When I saw it was contaminated I was imagining anti-freeze or something horrifying. Other wine isn't quite as bad :) It wasn't very good wine anyway, I'll stick with my local stuff.

I've found that beers with a bicycle on them are often pretty good - I *really* love the Slipstream, a Victoria-beer by Philips.

I first bought Cono Sur because of the bicycle on the bottle, but it turns out to be a great wine and great value:

I've had Red Bicyclette before and thought it rather tasty. But I like Syrah.
I don't exactly call trying to pass off merlot and syrah as pinot noir "contaminated", just shady.

And of course, Fat Tire ale

Loved the image. Loved the thought. And a very nice wine, as well.

This was a little theme for our Livestrong weekend last year. :)

Is Red Bicyclette still being imported?
How is that Cycles Gladiator? I was pondering that recently but opted for a lower price point

Red Bicyclette is one of my favorites. I'm a sucker for a Syrah.

I do believe yes to the red bicyclette. I bought the bottle in my picture last summer, though the label had changed from the previous time I had bought any. I wasn't really a fan of the Cycles Gladiator wine, not that I'm any expert on wine. I too bought the Cono Sur just because of the bike, to later find out it was the best selling Pinot Noir at my local wine store. I really liked it. I also liked the Syrocco, which I learned came out of a vinter who had taken a biking trip in Morrocco, came upon some grape growers, and ended up working with them to develop this Syrah. I just really liked the story. :)

This is getting quite removed from the pure bike/cycling motif, but Champagne Pannier.

My dearie was cycling last year through the region of France that produces the real champagne. He did walk into this winery store.

Red Bicyclette was in trouble?
I like that wine, although we bought the rose, when it was on sale last summer. Sure, we bought it because of the bike label, but the wine was good, in my uneducated opinion.
We buy lots of different wines, most of it not too expensive and this fell into the moderate, but good category.

Red Bicyclette rose is not my favorite rose, but it is decent enough for the inexpensive price. I confess, I bought it just for the label. Gladiator, for me, was just ok, but I kept the bottle for the ultra cool label. Fat Tire ale is excellent!

We took a bottle of Velo from Velocity Cellars (http://velocitycellars.com/wp/wines/) to a cycling buddy's for dinner. It was quite tasty.

Actually, ours must've been an earlier vintage - the label looked more like this:

And I just found this shiraz when googling for the Velo images:

We liked this so much we framed the label. :)
