this is so very sad... this is my commute route... and the most dangerous stretch of road with the on/off ramps to 2 major freeways... but a very cycled route with WIDE bike lanes...

one more reminder that ya just can't take anything for granted... this one shook me up since I ride it often myself... gonna go put flowers there later... :(

Damn....I hate reading stories like this. Before my accident, I guess I felt sorta invulnerable, but now I am much more aware of the bad things that can happen out there. It won't keep me from riding as all of life is risks, but I definitely lost my innocence. I feel very, very lucky that I am okay and even riding again...it could have been so much worse.

I think it's nice that you're going to put flowers out. Scary to know that it's a route you ride frequently. Be careful out there!

That is horrible. It's a terrible tragedy. It enrages me that people hit and run. And then it is so ironic, that someone from the military, who puts their life at risk in their job, gets killed in such a senseless way.

I hate hearing about accidents like this one because it really hits home and reminds me that no matter how careful we are out there on the road that sometimes really bad things like this happen. I'm not going to let it stop me from cycling though - it's an important part of my life.

This story is a horror and so sad. My husband and I were driving on the over pass of a parkway near my house. When I saw kids ride across the entrance and exit ramps I told him, I give them credit because I won't ride that rode only because I am afraid to ride across them. Of course I guess I could always stop and walk my bike across. But those ramps always scared me for this very reason.

And as deplasma64 said, it is very ironic.

I'm very sorry to hear about that. and BC, putting flowers there is a wonderful gesture - maybe it'll make ppl stop and think, at least for a day or two. It's even harder when it's a route you know and ride regularly - plz stay safe my friend!
