So OK it looks like I am first to post! Is anyone else entering? Is everyone waiting for the last moment to enter? Well since I am going to be away from my computer for the next week or so I have to do this now!

Small little story for this jersey. I entered the last contest on a whim while looking for work after a redundancy. Who knew that the 12 watercolour pencils I brought to do that would lead onto bigger things. I kept on looking at those pencils and eventually got out the paper and starting drawing- mainly lovebirds which I had as pets as a child. The first few attempts were not so great but I kept on going. Soon the pictures were looking really good and I brought more pencils and better paper.

Last month I created my own website to sell my paintings- mainly pet portraits.

Anyway this jersey can have one of two titles- "It's Meow Bike", because the front cat is looking very possessive there, and "Catch my Tail" for the back.
If you would like to see larger pictures I have uploaded them to my website-

It's an original, great design. Good colours and positioning of kitty too, front and back.

honest...I don't like cycling jerseys with large, blatant company logos. Nothing to do with TE association.

Maybe a different type of saying/text. And TE logo smaller somewhere else.

Example: Climbing higher! :) Or the Meow Bike or Catch my Tail etc. as kiwigirl suggested in her submission.

Your Lost Jersey design is innovative. But that design like some of your others, I can't seem to load up for a bigger view when I click on the thumbnail...

You might want to think about the types of alternate wearable colours for Lost Jersey design since it is an interesting design never seen before for a jersey. :) Is that belt "drawn" on the jersey design or a hidden pocket?

For the winter ones, would they be short-sleeved jerseys rather than long-sleeved?

Worthwhile to consider perhaps 1 long sleeved winning design (not necessarily tied to a winter design.) But then we get into issues of full-length zipper (which I dislike because it rubs against my stomach skin) vs. half zipper, etc. But I'm just one person who has certain preferences.

And bluejellybean you have to get your design out in the open abit more.. 'cause it's pretty too.

I've never tried this before so I really have no idea what I'm doing.

I'm going for something somewhat feminine without being too girly or loud. I like simple. I guess it could be any color, but I went with green for a couple of reasons. First, I don't see many green kits out there. Second, I was going for something kind of earthy.

Any suggestions?

Selkie
05-07-2010, 12:12 AM
I like all of them, but Loopybunny's design is understated---I haven't seen anything like it and I really like it. It would be great in more vivid colors, particularly since the graphic is black. Orange? Or even a more neon-ish green or a blue & green.

I like it too. All of them are great but loopybunny's made me stop and really study it. It's very simple but classy.

Maybe it's coincidence, or some thought, that the regular cyclists and regular TE members (so far), have submitted designs that provide cyclist visibility while riding.

'Course we do not yet know loopy's cycling habits.

OakLeaf
05-07-2010, 04:24 AM
I was having a similar thought, sideways....

that the "Fall" jerseys would be great to wear in any season except fall. And the "Southwest" jersey would be nice in the Northeast. ;)

Other than that... even the bright colors in the Spring jersey IMO don't overcome the predominant colors that are the same colors as road, sky and hillsides.

Maybe I'm too much of a grouch in my old age. :o I love a lot of these designs, as with the last round, but I wouldn't consider for a minute wearing them on the bike, unless on an organized ride that was so big that any motorists would be aware of it and there was no chance I'd be in a group smaller than five... and I rarely participate in those.

More yellow please!

loopybunny

Some alternative color schemes.

For the sake of space, I'm only uploading the backs (and it looks like you'll have to click a link to see the purple one).

As for my riding habits... I ride road, somtimes in traffic, and I ride solo. I'm a very defensive rider and honestly don't worry too much about being high visibillity. I know some people do, but high vis yellow is just not my style. I think Ted King has rubbed off on me too much.

Selkie
05-07-2010, 05:34 AM
Hmmm---well, Loopy's riding habits don't matter to me because I love her/his design.

Loopy, just to clarify, I love bright colors which is why I suggested something bright. Also contrasting colors---like turquoise blue or lime green with black. Doesn't have to be hi-viz yellow or anything like that. I like the purple version but then again, I like purple. You've come up with a design that is classy and if TE makes this one, I'll likely purchase it if it comes in a color that I like (despite the fact that I already purchased a jersey this year and have no room for more).

shootingstar
05-07-2010, 06:07 AM
Regardless of design/style, I would not wear the colour shade combinations for loopy's latest red and blue combinations near my face for spring/summer.

Even with sunblock, I do tan ..so with a yellow-olive based skin complexion & black hair, those particular colours do not compliment my complexion.

I like wearing lighter /brighter/stronger/jewel-toned contrasting colour blocks on my upper body, when cycling. It's just me.. I don't mind high visibility. My partner rides ahead alot of me, and I can see which colours are not visible from afar. It makes a huge difference...when he's trying to see me behind..looking back or in his bike mirror.

I like loopy's designs --not the darker/duskier colour combinations.

If anyone knows how I can make my pictures larger, that would be great. I tried resizing them and that did not help much. Unfortunately the picture does not let you see some of the detail.

Let me know if anyone has any ideas.

Since my photos appear abnormally large compared to everyone elses, you might try what I did... I upload first to Photobucket and then use their IMG to post. I don't know how everyone does the thumbnails (I am computer illiterate!!).

It's interesting in reading some other posts, that the trend for cyclists is to now get away from pretty jerseys and move into the bright color block visability jerseys. I think it would be funny for someone to submit one that is bright yellow or neon green that just says in bold letters "HEY! NOTICE ME! and don't hit me..." :)

Maybe 'cause I no longer race, or ride in packs, I like jerseys with pretty and unique designs, something that is different. For instance, I like the Art Jersey designs. I love that manufacturers are now starting to do Asian inspired designs. I do alot of art with washi papers and love its patterns and colors. Also I tend to mountain bike more than road so like colors that are more sedate, natural like blues and browns...

First, I don't see many green kits out there.

My family/friends and I have a little 'team' named for my sister who is battling cancer, and we custom-designed jerseys. They are white/green/black and afterwards we noted how easy it can be to find us in a crowd due to the lack of many green jerseys out there. So I hear ya about that one!

Lovely design by the way!

It's always good to have a range of different design styles and colour combinations. As long as the design itself is well executed and complements a wide range of body shapes and heights. I think it's great to have the occasional innovative design motif. Any vendor wouldn't want an overabundance since their objective is to move inventory, make sales.

Just straight solid colour blocks can get boring but admittedly I haven't yet paid over $60.00CAN for a jersey. Alot of my jerseys I've paid $25.00-$50.00CAN. Also I don't buy online from firms outside Canada..so I limit myself on choices. It's ok. I do shop in the U.S....in person.

So the designs people have submitted so far, is a wide range of choice..for judging I guess. It might get complicated..

When I imagined what I would want on my cycling jersey I thought about why I cycle, the recurring theme is the closeness to nature and enjoyment of nature. This is just one of the reasons that I ride. This is what I tried depicting in my pastel painting. The TE logo is supposed to be in the bar ends of the bike but I am sure that can photoshop-ed in there better. I hope you like my painting, Thanks for this opportunity:)
