It's baaack (http://forums.teamestrogen.com/showthread.php?t=28997&highlight=jersey+design+contest) -- we've decided to have another TE Jersey Design Contest!

1st Prize will be your very own 2010 TE Jersey and a $100 TE Gift Certificate.
- winner to be selected by TE

2nd Prize "People's Choice" award will be 2010 TE Jersey and a $50 TE Gift Certificate.
- winner to be selected by a poll here on the TE forums.
- this may be the same as the 1st prize winner.

#### ENTRY DEADLINE IS MAY 10th, 2010. ####

As before, we recognize that not everyone has the skills to create vector artwork suitable for use as final art, so what we're looking for is something more along the lines of a concept sketch that we can then take to the designers at our jersey manufacturer to be cleaned up and turned into final art.

We will have 3 separate threads to keep track of everything:

1) 2010 TE JDC - RULES (this thread)
Used for announcing the contest and discussion of contest rules, presenting links to TE logos, etc.

2) 2010 TE JDC - SUBMISSIONS (http://forums.teamestrogen.com/showthread.php?t=37382)
Used *only* for posting submissions. Please reserve your comments for the GALLERY thread, so that the submissions thread remains short and easy to view all the entries.

3) 2010 TE JDC - GALLERY (http://forums.teamestrogen.com/showthread.php?t=37383)
When you post an entry to the submissions thread, please also post it to the Gallery thread so people can comment on it. The gallery thread can also be used to post works-in-progress for feedback from the community.

Maybe it's best to digitally "pin" this message at the top of the thread, so it doesn't get lost, Jeff.

Here are some files you can use in your designs (cut-n-paste from last year, so ignore the 2009 in the filenames):

TE logos in Adobe Illustrator CS2 format (http://www.teamestrogen.com/template-resources/images/te2/jerseyContestArtwork2009.ai). Use this file to directly work with the vector art in a program like Illustrator.

TE logos in Adobe Illustrator 8 format (http://www.teamestrogen.com/template-resources/images/te2/jerseyContestArtwork2009_ai8.ai). Use this file to directly work with the vector art in a program like Illustrator.

TE logos in Adobe PDF format (http://www.teamestrogen.com/template-resources/images/te2/jerseyContestArtwork2009.pdf). Use the free Adobe Acrobat Reader program to view this file.

If you don't have a vector editing tool like Illustrator, here is a trick you can use with PDF files to get high quality bitmaps at any size. In Acrobat Reader, zoom in or out to get the image to the size you want, then do a SCREEN CAPTURE (hit the PrtScn button on a PC keyboard), then paste into your favorite bitmap editing tool (Photoshop, or even Paint, which is part of Windows).

Here is a template (http://www.louisgarneaucustom.com/media/pdf/custom/templates/E20113.pdf) you can use for laying out your design.

Does it have to be a team estrogen jersey? Or can I create my own theme?

Of all the winning entries from last year I don't recall the TE logo as being a stand out part of the design.
That would be a jersey I'd buy, not just another jersey with a print, picture or frilly design.

I'm not even going to bother this time around.

There are TE'ers who are professional graphics designers/artists so the competition is going to be tough. I liked your designs last year, Zen, and I hope you submit something.

It would be cool that one of the choice entries would be a fun cartoon. Now that is something would add diversify TE's style choices...besides just Dr. Seuss (which I do like).

It's rare to see cartoon like image on cycling jersey vs. on T-shirts. Wonder why... or maybe I just haven't see the customized cycling jerseys of the world.

I've had a few generic "themes" come to mind that I thought might be fun. I'm not creative at all, so maybe someone with more talent can me can come up with something interesting...

1 - Native american blankets/pottery designs
2 - seasons (winter spring summer fall) - Would love to do a 4 jersey collection of something like this someday
3 - cocktails
4 - leaf designs like grapevines (I guess this could border on cocktails, too. :) )
5 - breast cancer awareness/fundraiser. For years, I've had a vague idea about a design of this type. Something involving a a woman with flowing tresses, where a lock of her hair curls into the signature pink ribbon. But again, I'm not creative at all and can't think how to implement.

It's not clear to me - does the TE logo etc have to be included in the design or can it be assumed that will be added by TE afterwards? In otherwords can I do my "pretty picture" and you guys, if the design is picked can do what you want with it.

Does one have to use the layout provided. Way too complex for me. I am an amateur and just like the fun of trying my professional designer I am not. It's just easier for me to free hand a jersey. Also do you need front and back shown?

You do not need to include the TE logo. We'll place it in the most appropriate spot later.

You do not need to use the layout provided. Simple concepts or sketches are great. We can take them from there with inhouse artists or with some help from the jersey manufacturer. Folks who are comfortable with the provided layouts are welcome to use them.

Front, or front & back both is up to you. If you design just a front, we can create a back for it using the same or similar art.

Most important element is to have fun with it! :)
