Well, here it is.....

My new Trek 520. I love the rootbeer color!!!! sparkles in the sun:). I fell in love with it on my first test ride. It was soooooo smooth and felt like it was made for me. I do have to swap out the stem still but, have a new one on order with the LBS. I want one with a bit more rise to it.

I plan to take it back to the shop this weekend because the brakes (Avid v-brakes) seem to be set too tight. I can not open them to remove either wheel. that's not good---especially if I need to change a tube/tire. They also forgot to give me some cleats for the clipless pedals.

Anyway, as you can see, I added a few items to him (No name for him but, I have been referring to him as "my sherpa") like the Axiom rear trunk bag, Timbuk 2 seat pack--that I will use for tools/patch kits etc. and I got a topeak road morph pump at REI with the 20% coupon last weekend.

I also, added a cateye mity 8 computer.

I haven't really taken him for a serious ride yet---hopefully this weekend but, I feel we will have many adventures in the near future. I can not wait to take him on a fully loaded tour (next summer) but, I plan to start commuting to work as soon as possible. It will be nice because, I am allowed to store my bike inside at work:D I still want to get a good U-lock and cable lock for, when I do errands though.

I think I want to get a women's specific handlebar, after the tape gets worn out, so the drops will not be so low. I don't have any issues with shifting, just personal preference for me.

ahhhhhh bike love:p

I wish I wasn't stuck at work right now so I could go for a ride.

It's the Bontrager stock saddle that came with it (Bontrager Select City).
I have heard most people find it uncomfortable but, I will give it a chance and see how I like it, before I swap it out.

Sweet!

I've been thinking of getting another bike (not that I need one!) and the trek 520 is one of the ones I've been considering.... Hope you have many happy rides together!

Wow!

You're right about the rootbeer color! It's GREAT! I like the handlebar tape, too.

Here's wishing you many happy miles together!

I love the color of your new bike. My own bebe is also a trek and one the reasons I originally bought it was the comfort of the bontrager saddle. I rode it hard for 4 years before it gave out and I miss it- after several tries I found a terry saddle that I like almost as well but I still think the Bontrager was lovely.

Congratulations on your new A & W colored bike.

Very nice!

I had a 520 as my first road type bike. It was a 2001 (I think), the rainforest green color.

I used it for road riding and did a couple of loaded tours on it. It rode very nicely but even the smallest size was a bit big for me so I moved on to a little Surly Long Haul Trucker with 26" wheels.

Oooh! I LOVE that copper colour! Very nice.

When you go back to the store, get them to show you how they loosen and tighten the brakes. As the brake wire gets stretched and the brake pads wear down it's very handy to be able to do little adjustments yourself, so that you have good brakes all the time.

Woot!! :D Mine is the same color. The Rootbeer paint really sparkles in the sunlight. It really is beautiful Metallic coat paint. My gf has the same bike so I wrapped my bars in black bar tape and went with a black Brooks saddle. Now we don't look like bike twinsies. :) She personally loves the Bontrager Select City saddle but she has a very narrow sit bone width. I'm a B17'er for defs.

Have fun riding and many happy years doing so, with your new 520!!
