I went and test rode Rivendell Rambouillets today. I love this bike! Very nimble and comfortable and the lugs are gorgeous. It will take a few weeks to come in, but I think it will be worth the wait. Here's are some links to a pictures of it.

Lucky girl! I've always loved the classic good looks of the
Rivendells. Will you post a ride report once you have it?

For sure I'll post a report. I've been riding our tandem almost exclusively for the past year or so with occassional jaunts on my ten year old Specialized Rockhopper, so the Rambouillet feels very different.

We followed Grant Peterson (Rivendell Company owner) up Mt. Diablo one day and he looked like he was having so much fun. Took him an hour and 18 minutes (our best on the tandem is an hour and 50 minutes) to climb the mountain. He was using platform pedals and wearing Converse sneakers. His bike has mustache handlebars. He just looked so relaxed and comfortable.

I'm getting drop bars, I haven't decided about pedals. The bike I tested on had platform pedals and I delibertately climbed a rather steep hill to see what it would be like not clipped in. And to be honest I really didn't see any difference. His theory is that unless you're racing - you don't gain more than a few seconds from clipless pedals. With platform pedals you have more choices where to put your foot. So, I'm still undecided.

Have a great day!
