Hello everyone,
I just changed my forum name and I wanted to reintroduce myself .

As my tagline suggests, my old forum name was Liza. However, "Liza" is not actually my first name. I chose it because I didn't want want to use my real first name on a forum... Liza a diminutive of my middle name (Elizabeth) and my mom used to call me "Liza-bug" when I was little.

I decided to change it because every single time I exchange PMs with someone, I feel compelled to tell them this little story to explain why my forum name is a given name, but different than my actual first name. For some reason, calling yourself "Jen" when your name is "Mary" seems a whole lot stranger (and almost deceptive) than calling yourself "Bikelover45" when your name is "Mary."

Or maybe it's just my weird sensibility... but in any case, now I won't feel like I need to explain myself every time I send a PM :D.

Cheers,
VeloVT

I wasn't gonna say anything... :)

Hello again! I chose my handle from long ago. I just like the multiple images it suggests --a flower, a real star going by.

Instead, what I've been compelled to change is my email address which doesn't feature my whole real name. But for professional purposes it might look better if I did.

But too much of a hassle and no way, I want to deal with 2 different personal email addresses.

That's okay. I don't live in "Indy" anymore and my main ride is titanium. Go figure. I guess I could change it, but I like "Indy" as a nickname (for "independent").

I have a confession...
I am a mom but I don't know how to fly. I don't even have wings.
Phew...glad I got that off my back.

I like your new name.

I don't get it. I *AM* roguedog.

:p

People actually fly by me when they ride. Intentional deception on my part. Carry on.

PS~ Flyby was my 1st choice when I wanted a name and it was taken so I added the "e" ~ I might be slow but illiterate I am not

when forums started popping up, I came up with a handle that had a dimunitive form of my middle name, because like you I didn't want it identifying my real name but still kind of personal enough.

nowadays you don't really want "personal" anything online...

I chose "badger" because I was looking at a tin of badger balm when I was signing up :)

Naming things is always hard for me. So I wasn't creative, and still wish I could come up with something better. :o

i am a special type of vehicle called a mariacycle... it's perplexing to me that people think my name is maria!

Well if it makes you feel better - I'm anything but modern. :)
Sort of retro, actually. I should be called retro-cyclista. Dang. Oh well, hindsight is 20/20. :D

:D:D:D

I joined back in 2006 -- I think it was the first forum I'd ever joined, and I just didn't quite think through the name thing. Or maybe I'm just neurotic  (a more likely story, I guess)...

I will always be a New Yorker, no matter how long I live in Dixie (or anywhere else).

Well, I used my regular name, both first and last for the first few years I was on TE. When I decided to change, I couldn't think of anything, so I used part of my IM screen name, which again, when deciding on that, I couldn't think of anything, so I used the same one as my DH, with one change. Most of the things I would use, are something to do with riding, and those are already taken.

I'm neither blue nor a bug, and I drive a Subaru, not a VW. :p

I must confess I am jane....so don't think my name is something I concocted IF I was named jane....because I am....

The IF is because of my bike....and not IF I had a bike...because I do...;)

I just thought Liza might be the name of a relative or pet or something.....

I probably ought to change my user name, I don't ride a Surly Pacer anymore.
(How do you change a user name?)

arielmoon

My name is not arielmoon but I do have online friends that call me ariel. It was a scifi show forum and I wanted something cool. The moon is for my astrological sign cancer.

GLC1968

GLC are not my initials. I was born in 1968 though, so that part does ring true.

GLC has a long and stupid past...not something worth recounting, but it basically developed over years of internet forum names...

You know though - GLC is actually very close to my initials now that I'm married. Funny, I never thought about it, but its only one letter off now! Weird.

Catrin is just another version of my first name and is always available on forums :)

I live in Chile, and I love to cook. I would go by Jen, but it's always taken by the time I sign up for anything (no surprise there).

I grew up on Long Island. Where in NY are you from?

I'm not such a slug any more, I'm at least a turtle by now.

Bayville. On the Sound. Well, our house is on a hill, not right at the beach. But the village is on the Sound. And also on the bay -- Oyster Bay. Which is why Teddy Roosevelt is my favorite president.

I was across the island from you in Long Beach. I miss being by the water.

kfergos is just a derivation of my name... guess I'm not that creative after all.
