I reacted the above to below thing yesterday:

Someone who I've never met but from another forum, asked me in a roundabout way if I could find out for her Sarah Mclaughlin's mailing address.

Yes, the famous singer.
Person discovered there were several gals with this name in our area. She wanted to mail a book she just had published to get celebrity endorsements. She even pinned down Sarah's agent.

I had no interest in spending time to find the singer's address for the person. Nor upsetting anyone's privacy. So I simply advised that she may have to take the financial risk of mailing a copy to each plausible Sarah address.

The Internet does create some strange queries and connections.

Like any big city with beautiful views, there some celebrities that choose Vancouver/close by, as one of their homes...Bryan Adams, Goldie Hawn, Diane Krall, etc.

*snort* and *snicker* for me!

Really? Someone asked you that?!
I mean, even if you knew it would still be wrong to disclose.

Guess said person didn't want to go to the mailing address that I suppose is given on a web site? Granted I haven't looked for mailing addresses for celebrities since I was 16 and that was more than a couple of years ago  - but most of them I would think have official fan club sites - where mail would go to a nice safe P.O. box somewhere?

Asking you to look for the address of a person in your community is just plain weird.

She's managed to get endorsements from some other celebrities. Maybe she's just transferring her success there to somewhere else.

I guess for each of us, for areas of knowledge that we don't think/know about (in this area it's personal privacy), we've done or are doing unusual things that don't make alot of sense to "experts" knowledgeable in certain areas.

I did remind her that Sara has 2 young children --she would want to protect them.
