Wow. Just heard that a brand-new building that is a mixed residential and commercial use, is charging $50.00 per month for use of their shared bike locker and use of cyclist shower nearby. What are they thinking? :eek:
Different commercial buildings have different arrangements. One building I worked charged $20.00 for 1 year for shared bike locker cage in underground garage. Quite fine. No shower but one could use for free, gym showers with employee pass.
Another situation, I used outdoor roll-in bike locker boxes just outside the transit station. $20.00 per month. Bike is fully encased and covered inside the bike storage box/area. So I made sure I was cycling often enough during the commute to justify the cost. It was still worthwhile, given my long, multi-modal commute and need for built-in fitness/de-stressing.
And worked at other places, where shared bike locker was free to employees.
Anyway yet another story, where a senior manager was returning to London, England this month after working here in VAncouver. He cannot get a bike locker at his company location in London. There is a long waiting list.
