Hello, I was wondering if you ladies knew any brands making men's road cycling shorts in comfier, less restrictive styles like they now do for women? I recently purchased Sugoi Lucky knickers and Descente Bliss shorts - these both have a yoga-type waistband and no leg grippers. I haven't seen any men's shorts in this more relaxed, "urban" style (other than baggy mountain bike shorts) so I thought I would check here in hopes of passing some info along to my husband. Or are mountain bike shorts his best bet? He currently has a colorful, super tight bib and he'd like something more low-key :) Thanks!

I just bought a pair of Zoic urban/mountain bike type knickers that have a detachable liner. They look like regular cargo type pants, but not baggy, and I just came home from errands, took the liner shorts off and am wearing them alone. They were great for commuting type riding and look fashionable enough to wear on their own. I am sure Zoic makes something like this for men. My DH bought a liner that he wears under regular men's capris or cargo pants, or shorts for short rides or errands. Mtb shorts are always huge on him in his size and too small in the smaller size. But he wears his regular roadie clothes for commuting, since he's on his road bike.

Serfas makes a very nice pair of shorts, whether you want to call it the MTB style or simply a pair of cargo shorts with a chamois & liner in there. Very comfy for commuting, and lots of pockets... a very nice thing to have for commuting ;-)
One other thing that's worked for me is to use a comfy pair or regular shorts, then pull a pair of light khaki or blue jean cargo shorts over those.
