I had another really great ride today. Lovely signs of spring, the trees are all budding out, I saw the first Texas bluebonnets and the winds were only 15 mph. Best of all, I hit the best speed I have ever done over a reasonable distance since starting riding 5 years ago.

today's stats 34 miles in 1 hour 57 minutes for an average speed of 17 mph. Whoo Hoo!!!!

they pretty routinely hit 20 -20+ mph during the day unless I get out at the crack of dawn. 10-15 seems easier somehow.
the problem is probably that I ride through
texas prarie where you pick a direction ride for miles with the wind blowing across the flat plains and in your face, turn 90 degrees, ride miles and miles with the wind in your face, turn again, ride miles and miles with the wind in your face, and repeat ad nauseum. No trees, no buildings no nothing to block the wind which somehow manages to be in your face ieven if you ride in a square.
