This latest nephew marks probably the end of the next generation after my siblings and I. Just born earlier this week. He is no. 7 of a bunch of nieces and nephews from 3 siblings (out of 6 in total).

So who knows what will happen in the subsequent generations.

I chose not to have children and know I made the right decision. But even so, it's a nice thought that somewhere in this world, the family continues. (Even if none of us had any children, there are cousins with children and great cousins with children).

I'm just contemplating longevity of life into the future. In ways I cannot explain, this latest new family member coincides with the knowledge that our father has cancer.

By the way, this baby's older sister, she shares the same birthday with me.

Cute kid. :) I couldn't get the thumbnail to enlarge though?

It's funny the strength of the evolutionary pull. I too feel better knowing that one of my sisters has a daughter. As primal as this urge obviously is... I wonder what it feels like to a gorilla, or a 'possum, knowing its siblings have children. :o

Not sure about how this photo zooming in works in TE. Oh well.
Baby is half-Chinese. He will look different from sister..alot. His sister has hazel-green eyes and brown hair with natural red highlights. Sis is only 2 yrs. old. Both from same father and mother. :)

It's comforting thought, isn't it? I do stress, I would be just as happy if it was cousins who have children. It wouldn't HAVE to be a sibling.

My oldest niece of the whole group nieces and nephews was here:
