Bikers are the best

I stopped to watch a hawk in a somewhat deserted part of the bike path today, and over the course of an hour three bikers called out to ask if I was okay. I thought that was so cool.

I have often referred to the serious bikers as my safety net -- someone is always out there no matter how cold or cloudy or snowy the weather -- and today proved me right.

I agree! Cycling has restored my faith in the kindness of people on many occasions.

It is just amazing the thoughtfulness. Just a quick "are you ok" is all that I person needs. It does my heart good.

My first ride of the year this morning - there is still bits of snow in some of the underpasses on the bike path. I misread a dirty patch of ice and ended up slipping. A very nice guy on a bike stopped, made sure I was okay, and for a while we rode side by side chatting. You are right, cyclists are the best!

On the whole I agree. My friend however had an interesting experience on a recent organized ride. She had a flat and was sitting at a bus stop doing repairs. She hasn't changed many flats on her own, was nursing a sore hand and was having problems getting the flat changed. A number of riders asked if she was OK or if she needed help, but no one stopped when she said "Yes, I could use some help" A reporter from the local paper stop and asked if he could take her picture. She ask if he knew how to change a flat! :p Finally someone did stop and helped her with pumping up the tire and she was able to finish the ride. And she did get her picture in the paper! :D

So the moral to my story is, don't ask if you're not willing to stop and actually help! :rolleyes: bikerHen
