Cap2Cap is this Saturday between Richmond and Williamsburg. It's supposed to be a hot day. I'm looking forward to it.

Also doing the Tour de Chesapeake next week. I've not done that one yet.

This Saturday--Tour de Chesapeake in beautiful Mathews County. I bailed on the Cap2Cap since I ride those roads all the time, but Tour de Chesapeake will be new territory for me.

Anyone else going?

I'm heading up but will only be riding Sat/Sun. My mom lives in the area so I decided to limit my # of days riding to spend more time with her.

Hey there! Back again after "two Mondays" at work. I am headed up to Bike VA with my two best galpals. I have met so many wonderful people on the trip and look forward to making more friends. We welcome anyone who is alone or with others to join us riding at an average pace early in the a.m. We usually leave out at about 6:30 on the route to beat the heat. Charlottesville's first day last year killed me! Some of our Richmond pals may join us as well, if any of you are from that general area.

Are there any fun rides in the Roanoke/Lynchburg/Charlottesville area coming up soon? I want to branch out a little and see what's out there. I plan on doing the Shenandoah Fall Foliage Ride this year, weather-permitting.

I live near the Virginia Creeper Trail and the Appalachian Trail in case anyone is curious about Southwest Virginia and needs more information. Just did 62 miles Saturday on the "Creeper" on my new mtb, and the derrier's a little bit rare. I think 62 on the Creeper is the equivalent of a century on a road bike or maybe worse...

Sorry for the rambling. I guess I am just putting myself out there and letting some people get to know me here. I really appreciate the advice given on this forum and it is very often a great comfort as well as being encouraging to women riders. Thanks to all.

I will NOT be heading out at 6:30, that's for sure! But it was hot last year, wasn't it? I don't mind the heat, but I saw more than a few people who got sick last year.

I'm in Richmond and ride with the RABA group often. I don't know if Charlottesville has a road bike club, but if they do you could ride with them.

Have fun and enjoy that early morning riding.

Tulip & Ryda - Charlottesville Bike Club is a great group of people!

Also, I believe there are several other groups who ride regularly. I have not ridden with the others but do ride with the C'ville club as often as possible. They have regular rides every Saturday & Sunday.

Also coming up this fall:

The Shenandoah Century: http://www.svbcoalition.org/events/century/ This is a great ride. Challenging, but lots of fun and well supported. Paninis for lunch at the end!

This one is a bit more north but still a great ride with lots of flat in the route as it travels away from the mountains: http://www.culpepercyclingcentury.com/ Scroll down for info on this year's ride.

Hmm, the Culpeper Century looks interesting. I have tentatively added it to my calendar. Thanks!
