After 2 seasons off (well, 1.5 seasons, for pregnancy and taking care of baby) I am getting back out on my mountain bike. I'm signed up for 2 30-mile xcountry mntn bike races. One in August, the other is November.
Plenty of time, right? I've set some lofty goals for myself, based on my friend's race results. I'd like to finish the second race in less than 2:30.
Today I hit the pavement with my mntn bike to get some early training in. I managed 15 miles. And averaged 12 mph.
All I can think about is that I need to ride TWICE that far, going at LEAST that pace, on single- and two-tracks!
I think I can, I think I can, I think I can, I think I can . . .
