We need to do it again!

How about some time in May?

Same as before (LogBoom Park to Redhook on the trail), or something different?

I would like to do it too (I haven't been making plans lately because my step father is ailing)

Since I'm new to this website, I haven't done this ride before! I don't drink, but it sounds like it would be a fun ride, and I'd like to finally meet all of you. What are the details of the ride (Length? difficulty?)?

i don't drink either, Jessica. it's not usually a very challenging ride, 10-30 miles, mostly on the trail or all on the trail.

Oh okay! That should be no problem. Is it the Burke Gilman trail? It's funny, I've been riding for awhile, and lived here my whole life, but never really rode on the Burke-Gilman! I keep telling my husband how I would love to do a ride from our house to the Redmond area, just because I know how bike friendly and pretty it is over there.

I think the Burke Gilman will be included.. :)

I miss you guys! And I haven't been able to ride my bike since Oct. But I am in Mexico at the moment, so life isn't to bad.

We miss you too! But glad to hear you're enjoying Mexico in February. :)

Yep, we needed the break. But it was a bit weird coming back. Didn't feel like we were coming home. I guess it will just take time.

I'd certainly love to join y'all if we can plan it soon so I can get it on my calendar before other stuff fills it up.

Sounds like fun! I've never actually stopped at the brewery, couldn't figure out which one was the turnoff. Last time I tried I ended up in the empty commercial development across the river.

I am lobbying to start this at a decent hour-noon or one or even 2pm. The local bike club starts all their rides I want to go on at 10am. Weekends I like to sleep in, breakfast in bed, exercise the dog for an hour, before I do something that involves being gone for a couple hours.

in May, starting at noon is fine. (I'll be sure to eat lunch first!)

I also motion for the noon-2 range for start time. If we're doing it in May, it would probably be a weekend, right? I work every other weekend so I'm off the weekends of May 1st, 15th, and 29th.

Whoops! almost forgot that the weekend of the 29th, my husband and I will be up in Bellingham for ski to sea. So I guess just the weekends of the 1st or the 15th if that works for others (for some reason I couldn't edit my previous post).

I'm leaning towards the 1st since of course I won't be here the 15th.

The CTS ride that they have on the 1st looks really good, it's the Marymoor-Snohomish one that is about 55 miles. But, if this is the date that works best for everyone, I want you guys to go ahead and do the Redhook ride on that day. Closer to the day, I may decide I just want a chill ride, and join you guys. But feel free to switch up the days since I know my schedule kind of constricted things, and I'm being a little non-committal at this point! Sorry!

I'm also planning to do the cts ride on the 1st. Darn. I'll get around to meeting the NW TE crowd someday...

Well, at least I'll get to see you there most likely. Which speed group are you planning on joining? I've never done these rides before so I don't know what to expect. But I'm planning on doing the Saturday ride this weekend, so I think I'll get a feel for it. I'm debating between the 12-14mph group and the 14-16mph group. I've done this route many times before and for the whole ride I'll average like 13mph. But everytime I look down on the flat parts I'm going like 18, the uphills may be more like 7-10, and then the downhills are like 25. So I don't know! Maybe I'll do the slower group first, that's probably better than getting in over my head and being expected to go faster than I can! Do you know if it's mandatory that you be a Cascade Club member to do these? Have you done these rides before?

Hi Jessica,
You don't have to be a Cascade Club member to do any of the daily rides--although they will encourage you to join sometime down the road. I've done the CTS rides for two years now. I started out in the slowest group (red) the first year and moved up to yellow last year. I'd say you should at least try the green group first. You can always drop back to yellow if you find the pace too challenging. That said, I will mention that in my experience, the pace does tend to be faster than what is posted. For some reason, speedy people like to ride in the slower groups and push the pace; sort of a big fish in the small pond phenomena. But then there is always the safety net of being able to catch the group behind you. It's probably better for you to push yourself a little rather than to cruise along easily in a slow group. This way you can find that balance:)

Great! thanks for the advice! I didn't realize it was so easy to just fall back to a slower group if the pace was too much. I don't think the 26 miles should be a problem, because when I do this route I always add mercer island and my ride is 32-39 miles depending on if I leave from my house. But when the rides start getting longer, I may go into a slower group. Now this may seem silly, but do they provide the colored tape they want you to wear on your helmet (my husband says I worry about the silliest things haha)?? :D

They do provide the tape. You are responsible for everything else;)

I plan to participate in the CTS this year. In fact two different club's training rides! On Saturdays I'm riding with the TWBC on their training rides and then on Sundays I'm going to try and make CBC's rides. We'll see how it goes. :)

Awesome! That answers my question on the other thread:)
