I won't be riding but my husband and several of his friends will be riding the 12 hours again this year. We live in Sebring so it is local ride for them. Are you riding the 12 or the 24? Don't know what type of info you need, but he would be happy to answer any questions he can?

Oh! Me me me!!!! I'm doing the 24-hour again with my boyfriend. This is my 4th year, so any specific questions, let me know. Are you doing 12 or 24?

How will we all recognize each other? We need a secret TE hand signal! (I think it's kinda funny that Kacie and I have to drive 10 hours to meet in real life when we both live in the same city!!!)

I know! So funny! We do need to come up with a way to reckognize each other, or a place to meet. I will be open for help during the 12 hour if anyone needs to leave anything with me. Pedal--from your experience, is near the bathrooms where we should set up? What time should we get there to get a little space there?
Thanks!

Sorry - this might be long and I'll try not to complicate it. Visualize an out-and-back driveway at the racetrack entrance - probably 1/8 of a mile. Riders come into the driveway, ride 1/8 mile, turn around a cone and head back out. The restroom building is near the cone at the u-turn. Cars are lined-up on either side of the driveway.
People with support set up closer to where the riders come in, furthest away from the u-turn. Why? Riders can come by, shout out what they need on the way in, then by the time they've made the uturn, their support crew has whatever they needed ready to go.
Most people have their support set up Saturday morning, while we're out doing the first century (that's an out-and-back away from the track.)
Since we're doing the 24, unsupported, we're gonna set our car out late Friday night, after we get everything we need set up and ready to go.
(And not really 100% sure how to get the car moved from the 12-hour setup to the 24-hour location on the track!)

I can imagine that :p Would you like me to move your set up after the 12 hour?

Kacie, are you sure you'll be up for it after supporting hubby for 12? If so, it would be awesome to have someone move our stuff. Someone else who's doing the 24 has a friend coming to help them who said they could help us too, but it would be much easier if we had our own, especially if we're moving our car over. If you're really sure of it, let's talk.

I definitely would like to know how to recognize the TE members. I will be there to support my husband, but would love to be able to cheer for those of you participating. Hope you enjoy your visit to my hometown.:)

Be sure to post your results for those of us not riding :-)
I have 2 female friends riding the 24hr on recumbents - Marilyn is in the 24-hr women's 60-65 non-drafting group. Sandy is in the 40-45(?) non-drafting. and I think I will know at least 1/2 dozen men riding (some 12hr some 24hr - various ages some drafting some not - all on recumbents).
Wish I could be there in person to cheer on the TE ladies and the bents too.
Y'all have fun!

There are so few women doing the 24- I'll look out for your friends! I'll try to be in my team kit, but with so many layers, it might be hard to see (Sorella Cycling, with Peachtree Bikes on the back of our shorts.) And, for warmth as much as aerodynamics, I might wear my TT helmet all day.

WOW!!! That's really, really impressive!!!!!!!
I felt awful all day - woke up with an awful cold, achy body, congested lungs, and wanted to quit right at the beginning after the 3 laps on the track. My dear, dear BF convinced me to just go for a bike ride - give up our goal, but just go for a ride instead. So, we piddled around, took long breaks, tried to stay warm. I ended up with 203 miles. Considering I was aiming for 370 (last year I did 344 miles in 24-hours, so it was well within my reach) well, I'm really disappointed, but it was fun, and I'll have something to look forward to next year!
I have to send out a huge special thanks to our very own Kacie!!! She didn't know me before this event, yet she offered to help us out, and on race day, she was so kind, so helpful, asking if we needed anything each and every lap. If I had been able to ride my ride, it would have been her help that got me to my goal. I couldn't have done it without her. And without her steady supply of tissues! Kacie, you're the best!!!!!

Rumor has it that echidna rode 415 miles and set a new course record. I haven't had official confirmation from her and the official results aren't up yet. She kicks azz.

There was a woman on a recumbent (whose support person let us borrow two chairs to take a break - THANK YOU kind stranger!) who was on track to hit some serious numbers. She was amazingly strong every time we saw her. Had lots of pink stuff on her bike. She was really doing great - was that her?

Yes, a new women's record was set in both just womens and womens recumbent - by Sandy Earl. She is training for solo RAAM for this year - check out her blog - not only is she one amazing athlete, she writes an entertaining blog.

Congrats to anyone who raced this weekend - cold, windy weather hindered a number of folks.
Maybe someday................
