I have a Honda Pilot (without a tow hitch, but that may have to change). I am looking for suggestions on bike racks that can hold up to 4 bikes for my family of 4, so that we can travel to parks, trails, etc.
Also, how do you store your bikes? I have a 2 car garage and I want to be able to fit one car in it, and also to park the bikes and store the helmets without them knocking into each other or falling over.
Thanks in advance for your suggestions!

My 2 car garage holds our 1 car and 4 bikes. There is a shelf for the helmets but mine usually hangs on my handlebar. 3 of the 4 bikes have kickstands. The 4th one leans up against the shelves or wall, depending on what order they get put away in. My brother made a bike rack out of PVC pipe, that sits in his truck, which would work pretty well for holding bikes that don't have kickstands in a garage.

In the garage I have a two bike rack from Nashbar. It is an independent stand that holds two bikes top and bottom. It also comes with metal baskets that are attachable to the stand. My Avalanche has a two rack Thule set up on the roof and when we take road and mountain bikes anywhere, we put the hitch rack on the back.

Our 2 bikes are stored in our living room...:D Might not be practical for everyone, but for us (no kids; don't entertain)...it works fine. As for hauling...we own 2 vehicles - a 2-seater convertible (obviously NOT the hauler) and a Nissan Murano. If we need to haul a bike or both...we have to place them on their side in the back, with the seats folded down. We use an old blanket in between the bikes, to prevent scratches.

Dunno if they have something like it in the US but might be worth a look. Quite a few families that we know that do dirt have one.
