View Full Version : Any flats in Berkeley?
My friend and I will be doing some riding in the Berkeley area in March, and neither of us is familiar with that area. All I know is that it's hilly, but perhaps there are some not-so-hilly parts with little traffic? Or, are there better places to ride outside Berkeley but within reasonable distance?

You could do the Bay Trail, not much flatter than that :D most parts have little traffic. Are you willing and able to get out of Berkeley?

Here's a route that bikerz, Lee and I rode a couple of months ago along the Bay Trail. We started up in Richmond, but you could always start out at the Berkeley Marina / Cesar Chavez Park in Berkeley. There's one small hill to climb behind the Golden Gate Fields racetrack, but that's it.

Trek420, we could easily go byond Berkeley — no problem. Jobob, thanks for this link. Looks like a good ride for us. I knew I could count on you gals up north. Thanks very much!

car free, flat, close to BART .... you could do the Iron Horse Trail :)
Helluva suggestion, Trek. I appreciate your ideas very much, and thank you both for helping me out.

I'm happy to help! :D And don't forget to let us know when and where if you want this to be a TE ride (or recovery meal).
There's also the Alameda Creek Trail which is right off the Fremont Bart if you're BART'ing it. Flat, no traffic, very scenic (although the last time I was on it they're doing some work on the paved side. Don't know if that's done yet).

It's done.

Thank you, Trek, but we're nowhere near your league in riding skill, plus I'm in therapy for neuromas (one per foot), and my friend has a bum knee. Other than that, we're in great shape. ;) I appreciate your thoughtfulness.

You must have me confused with someone in shape  We can compare feet (I have a broken toe). A lot depends on when in March it is. Duck on Wheels will be here in March .... I'll be walking a half Marathon on the 27th . Do they have sag wagons on those?
Even if I was in shape we all can ride slower and just enjoy the ride.
