For Sale: 2001 Colnago Technos frame and fork, 55cm c to c. $1000

This is really painful, but I find myself with too many bikes and I need to sell my Colnago Technos frame and fork. This bike is really, truly gorgeous, a real Italian steel classic in amazingly good condition sporting a beautiful Art Décor paint scheme that’s a variation on the Team Rabobank color scheme. Best of all, this bike rides even better than it looks! A fantastic, smooth ride that puts other steel frames to shame! If you value the outstanding ride of a high quality steel bike, this is the frame for you. They, including Colnago, literally do not make them like this anymore.

The frame has no dents, and only a small number of nicks (pictures available). I’ve seen brand new frames come out of the box with more flaws. I had this bike built up with DuraAce for quite some time but I hardly ever rode it since I was concerned I would hurt it.

There’s something about a good Italian steel bike that just brings out the passion in people. Seems like every time I rode this bike I got at least one glowing comment about it. I have one story among many that I have to pass on about this bike: I had stopped at a quicky-mart one day to fill my bottles when this guy walks by, stops, and starts checking out my Colnago. He tilts his head first one way, then that other, then, without introducing himself, says out loud, “DuraAce. A bike like that needs to have Campy Record on it.” And then just walks off without saying another word! You know you have a beautiful bike when total strangers insist that you upgrade your grouppo.

Now for the facts: 55cm center to center, 56cm center to top. 55.5cm effective (and actual) top tube. It’s built with Columbus Nivacrom Technos tubing, with specially contoured top and down tubes. 27.2 seat post, braze-on front derailleur. Bottom bracket is Italian, and I have three Italian bottom brackets on hand so if I happen to have the one you need I could throw it in at no extra charge (see below). Fork is a gorgeous chrome Colnago straight blade, 1” threaded with an Ultegra 600 headset (included). I also have a Zoom threaded to threadless adaptor I could also throw in at no extra charge. Campagnolo seat binder bolt included.

Available bottom brackets:
6500 Octalink 70x109.5 (used) (for Shimano Octalink double chainring crankset)
6500 Octalink 70x118 (new) (for Shimano Octalink triple chainring crankset)
UN73 70x115 taper (lightly used) (for Shimano old school square taper double crankset)

Frame/Fork/Headset along with a bottom bracket (if desired) and stem adaptor: $1000 plus actual shipping cost. This is a very special frame and I really feel that it’s worth every penny. I think that if you like a high quality steel road bike you’ll decide that it’s worth every penny too.

I take Paypal.
