Oh yay. We're starting to see dates for 2010 rides. This gives me the motivation I needed to get off my butt and start training.
http://www.ohbike.org/events/index.htm
April 24 - Ride to End Hunger in Calvert County
June 12 - Patuxent River Rural Legacy Ride
Links are not up to date yet, but it's a start.
I also checked the Baltimore Bike Club but they don't have a date yet for the Civil War Century. My guess would be Saturday, Sept 11 since it's usually the same weekend as the Indian Head Century.

Bike Virginia is June 25-30 in the Shenandoah. It ought to be a beautiful and challenging ride this year.

$360:eek: o_O!!!
The jersey is really nice, though.

It's a 5-day ride, which turns out to be $70 or so per day. Camping is pretty reasonable. This is the first time that they are including jerseys. Usually they are extra so I have never gotten any.
This will be my fourth BVA. I budget for it every year so I'm not surprised when it comes around, although it's always a big chunk when I actually have to pay for it.

For those who have done Bike VA, is it doable with a compact crankset, or should I consider a triple?
How quickly does this sell out? DH and I are talking about it now.... :D
April 25: Kennedy Krieger Ride On for Autism Research. Registration opens February 1.

The route changes every year, so you can't compare rides very well. This year is in the Shenandoah, which are the mountains around Harrisonburg. So it depends on your fitness and your bike--perhaps your compact double has the same high and low gearing as your triple? Mine does; it just has fewer options in between. I will probably take my Bike Friday. It has a triple.
It does sell out. You might want to call them to find out the status. There are discounts for early registration. If you want to stay in motels, those definitely sell out quickly.

The Civil War Century is confirmed for Sept 11, 2010. Registration opens April 19.
http://www.baltobikeclub.org/index.pl/cwc
Limit 1600 riders, no walk-ins.
Last year I did the Indian Head century instead of the CWC, but I think I'll be back in Thurmont this year. Tomato sandwiches here I come!!!

Here's another great ride to consider. I've done the 50 miler the past two years and have had great weather and a great ride each time.

The Terry wild goose chase has been shifted to October this year:
http://www.terrybicycles.com/tours
The 2010 ride will be open for registration in early 2010. The ride date is Sunday, October 17, 2010. Invitations will be sent first to participants in the 2009 ride and then opened to the public. If you'd like your name to be put on a mailing list, please email talktous@terrybicycles.com.
This one day bicycle tour for women takes place in and around Blackwater National Wildlife Refuge, in Cambridge, Maryland on the Eastern Shore. It's a spectacular way to enjoy early-season cycling while contributing to a great cause. In 2009, we raised $24,500 for the Refuge.

Dammit, I look forward to the Goose Chase in May. And October is already busy enough.
Ah well, perhaps the wind won't be as bad out in Blackwater at that time of year.

I'm kinda bummed that they're changing the date. The Marine Corps Marathon is two weeks after the Goose Chase, so I'm not sure I can take a weekend off from running to do the ride. I guess I'll decide when registration opens.

Thanks for posting these events, NY Biker.
I'm registered for the Ocean to Bay Ride in Bethany next Saturday. I may ride the End Hunger Ride in Calvert County on April 24th, too. That's a beautiful area of MD for a ride.

I only wish they had chosen a more original name

The Tour de Frederick 1st anniversary shirt should be a nice keepsake. Hmm, presented by Fairchild Controls. My current company, Orbital Sciences Corp., used to be Fairchild and we have many former Fairchild employees.
I'll have to post the information on Orbital's Cycling Club web page.

So, September is here. Lots of centuries in the next couple of months. Who's doing what?
FYI, the PPTC century on September 19 is sold out, so if you're not already registered, cross it off your list.
I'm doing the Civil War Century on September 11. Probably the metric, maybe 50 miles if the weather is not great.
I'm also penciling in the Civista ride on October 10 and maybe the Save a Limb ride the following weekend. Details are here.
http://www.ohbike.org/events/index.htm#october
I think Christian Vande Velde will be at the Save a Limb ride.
There are lots of other rides listed on the oh bike page, including a century in southern Maryland this Saturday which is sponsored by an Annapolis racing team. I was thinking of doing it but I have a bit of a cold so am going to miss it. It goes along the western shore of the bay, which is a nice area for riding.
The Oxon Hill club's Southern Maryland century is on September 12.

A little farther south, I'm doing RABA's Northern Neck Labor Day Ride on Sunday (not century), and the Great Peanut Tour in Emporia, Virginia Sept. 9-12.
Then there's the Heart of Virginia on Sept. 25, and also the River Ride in the Northern Neck on Sept. 25. I believe that each of those have centuries.

I'm doing the PPTC Back Roads Century in Berryville on Sept. 19. In fact, this Saturday I'm volunteering to help mark the route. I was surprised to see the ride was Sold Out.
