:) Just peeked at new cycling jerseys. Probably a good thing I can't afford to spend on yet another new jersey. Besides probably have enough that I've forgotten I had certain jerseys. :o

So I confess that I have:
9 short sleeved cycling jerseys
3 long sleeved cycling jerseys. (Thank gooodness for multiples, my luggage is temporarily lost in Seattle with a jersey packed inside.)
1 sleevless cycling jersey --haven't worn this yet. I bought it before I moved to Vancouver. Find our summers not hot enough to wear it.

:o Keep in mind, I didn't start wearing any cycling jerseys until 10 years after returning to cycling! Used to be very anti-cycling jersey oriented. I didn't want to look sporty at that time even though I was piling in 5,000-6,000 kms. annually in T-shirt years. :o:p

Surely there are some serious cycling jersey affectionados here that would blast past these above numbers.

I've come a long way, maybe too much, jersey wise. But better than buying too many purses.

do i have to? I used to complain about how many my husband had! now i have 3 longsleeved ones; 2 wool with short sleeves, and 11 short sleeved jerseys. I DO NOT NEED ANY MORE.
oh, 1 yellow vest, 1 yellow jacket, 1 leopard print jacket and my showers pass raincoat

It's easier now that I only wear hi-viz. :) There's zero temptation to buy jerseys I don't need.

I did get a club jersey, but very rarely wear it (and only when I know I'll be in a large group for the entire ride). Then, of the jerseys I still have from 25 years ago, I still wear two wool Cortina jerseys in the coldest weather.

4 sleevless

I thought I had more but that is what I just counted. I have two jackets, which is a bit funny since I live in Texas and one would do!

Guess Biciclista you did wear a leopard print jacket for a photo here once upon a time?

All jerseys and jackets that I have, have been an accumulation over past 8 yrs. I make my clothing last.

Er...wasn't asking about cycling jackets, but here it goes:
1 heavy waterproof Gortex for winter cycling
3 jackets --different ages, 1 of them the zipper is ready to fall apart. Another jacket has some blobs of acrylic black paint. Got messed up with my art supplies from class a few years ago. But I still wear it. After all, who really notices when zipping along on the bike. 2 of 3 jackets can be converted to hi-vi vests by unzipping sleeves.
1 light water-repellant jacket

My only justification for all this cycling stuff, it becomes handy especially when one is unemployed and cannot spend more money unnecessarily. :D I'm really grateful now for my previous years of cycling apparel purchasing insanity.

We also live a car-free life. So same money for gas..for apparel instead. Yes, yes, yes, another justification. :)

I do loan my apparel for visiting guests if they aren't totally prepared with right jacket, etc. for a bike ride.

I am only counting true cycling jerseys, not the multipurpose workout stuff I sometimes wear. This has been accumulated over about 6 years, all except gifts purchased when the items were at a good sale price.

4 sleeveless jerseys
5 short sleeve jerseys
1 long sleeve full zip jersey/jacket
One water resistant windbreaker that is beginning to peel apart.

My winter stuff is mostly non-cycling specific.

One.

and I've worn it once.

I wear wool shirts or running shirts for the most part. Since I always have a pannier or bar-bag, I don't need the pockets. I dunno, they just don't come into my life, and I don't invite them. I don't mind them on other people, I just don't seem to desire them for myself.

Shh.. I have one jacket (well, a windbreaker) and I think I'd actually like another one. My jacket rocks though.. it's convertible so I can take the sleeves off if I want :)

But as far as jerseys go..
4 short sleeve (one of which is too short on me and I don't wear)
1 long sleeve

I need more :o I will be making more soon.... going to make 2 wool jerseys and probably some fun short sleeve and sleeveless ones as we get more into spring..

I must have at least 8 short sleeved jerseys. I've thrown out all of the old ones that have grease on them, or shrunk, or got too big. Geez, I have 3 Eurohalters and 3 regular sleeveless jerseys. Then I have 2 long sleeved jerseys, 2 long sleeved jerseys with a light lining, 2 wool jerseys (they have pockets), and 3 fleece ones (which I wear x country skiing and snow shoeing, too).
I have one wind jacket, one vest, and 2 rain jackets. Oh, and the very nice wind stopping jacket/jersey that I bought from Bluetree. It's pretty heavy. Two helmets, 5 pairs of gloves, one lighter full fingered gloves, and one pair of AmFibs.
I guess you could say I like buy cycling clothes. I used spend most of my $ at Ann Taylor. Now I spend it at Terry or TE. Sometimes, my DH buys me stuff and surprises me, too.
That's not counting the shorts, skorts, tights, board shorts with liners, knickers, both casual and fitted.
Oy, I am an addict.

1 long sleeve jersey
3 short sleeve jerseys
2 sleeveless jerseys (but 1 was really too big even when I bought it and was 15 lbs heavier)
1 light jacket with zip-off sleeves (haven't actually done that though)

I'm here to make you all feel better. This is dedicated cycling attire (though I did just wear my hi-vis cycling vest for a run yesterday):

long sleeve: 9
short sleeve: 17
sleeveless or tanks: 19
vests: 3
jackets: 4

This does not count the ~ 2 feet of hanging space in the basement dedicated to cycling things that don't fit me, either. :o Of course, those are mostly bottoms...but still, there are a few tops, too.

Short-sleeve jerseys: 5, one of which I can't wear past September because the sleeves are too short to go with warmers, which is a pity because it's cute. And one of them is a bit too big, but I like it anyway.
Long-sleeve: 2, one lighter weight, one heavier.
Sleeveless/tanks: none. I haven't found one that appeals to me.
Jackets: 1, black with a big reflective design all over it.

1 long-sleeved jersey (but it's full-zip so I usually wear it like a jacket)
2 short-sleeved jerseys (1 of which was my fundraising prize from BikeMS last year, so I've only purchased 1)
1 wind-proofish cycling jacket (yeeeeeah pit zips!)
1 screamin yellow zip-up vest for commuting

...and that's it!

Absolutely no idea but I'm guessing over a dozen of short sleeved. No sleeveless jerseys, one long sleeved, at least 4 high vis vests, many arm skins

I <3 arm skins.

I have 10 short sleeved jerseys. I like solid colors or simple prints. No words. I got all of them on some sort of sale price. On our last three bike tours I have picked up a jersey along the way. A couple were half price at bike shops along the way. I got a red PI jersey at a thrift shop in Ridgway, CO for $1.25.

I do not need any more short sleeve jerseys. (Unless I find one at Goodwill for $2. haha)

I have 1 long sleeve jersey. I also use other long sleeve base layers for winter riding.

I have 3 Novara cycling jackets: one lightweight, two heavy waterproof.

Never fear, Pedal Wench is here... at least 30 short-sleeved, could be more, but I'm scared to count. Granted, I get two a year of my club's jersey and we do a ride every year that gives away a jersey - usually too ugly to wear, but I still own them.

Good point. I should mention that 7 of the short sleeved jerseys I counted are from 4 years of riding the MS150 in NC. 4 were free giveaways for fundraising, and 3 were free 'team' jerseys from my company with whom I rode. Only 1 of these 7 will ever grace my back again (the one I helped design!). Most are just NMS at all. :(

So many that I would have to go upstairs to count them. Long sleeved. Short sleeved. Base layers. Not to mention a bunch of shorts, knickers, and tights of varying degrees of warmth or windproofing. I have 2 jackets though, one with zip off sleeves - my absolute favorite.

The pathetic part of owning all these all-weather clothes is that none of this has seen any use in 2 months! As soon as I get cleared by my PT to ride, AND I get rid of this cold, AND we get a sunny weekend without wind, and 34o minimum I'll be back in the saddle.

0. Yes. 0.

I own a couple moisture wicking active tops by adidas, nike, etc. But I don't own a jersey. I bike mostly in capris or rolled up pants/jeans & chrome shoes to work and a t-shirt with my messenger bag slung across my back. If it is really hot - I wear a moisture wick top and carry and extra shirt in my bag. :) Maybe a jersey someday.

Let us know when you cave in. I know where you're comin' from, since it took me 10 years of regular cycling before I decided to get my first cycling jersey. However I bought my first cycling jacket within 3 months of returning back to cycling.

In response to Knotted's comments, I need back pockets for keys especially when I am not wearing a cycling jacket in warmer weather. I need to use my key/security fob to activate the underground parking garage door where our condo's bike parking is. To do this, I stop and balance myself on top of bike, on a downward slope driveway to dig around in my back pocket and fish out fob.

So I truly look for jerseys with back pockets and for colder weather, jackets absolutely must have at least front (or back) pocket(s).

I'm guessing I'm a size Large or XL in women's jerseys I wear a size 10 waist(maybe 34-36 above the hip - actual inches) womens. I have 32-34 bust. I am short 5'3''. I know all that stuff is cut different than regular tops. I am curvy, which can be a pain.

No one has to feel obligated to do anything. But thank you for mentioning it Biciclista. :o

Ahh this is a tough one:rolleyes: Perhaps it shows how long I have been riding versus the amount of clothing I own HA!
At any rate here goes:

sleeveless jerseys: 8-9
short sleeve jerseys: 37
long sleeve jerseys: 15-17

Although I can honestly say that I wear my favorites most of the time, and others do not get worn. Does anyone else do this?

Well, I dont' know how many non cycling tops I have, but I could defintely say that I own way more fall/winter tops than summer.( I quess because it's the area that I live in) I'm definitely NOT someone who spends tons of money on clothes... when I do buy something, I buy quality and obviously it lasts longer. With that said, I will admit to owning a fair amout of sporting type clothing... :p How does everyone else stand on this?

Just having abit fun with our cycling fetishes. Speaking of fetishes, I heard of one guy who owned and did use his collection of 15+ bike helmets.

True sometimes that too many of 1 apparel type is not terrible..as long as it's worn/used at some point in time.

This thread topic has taken some interesting detours and surprising turns.

OK, so I already have an ancient short-sleeve jersey and a strappy cycling tank, plus a warm jacket. But you gals are enablers. I just ordered a sleeveless jersey and a long-sleeve one, too. After years of dealing with an avid cyclist for a husband who insisted that two pairs of shorts were too many and would seldom add to his cycling wear, I knew that I would need at least two of all the essentials from the start.

I have:
2 Short Sleeve
1 Heavy long Sleeve
1 Convertible Wind Jacket
2 Shorts
1 Knickers
2 Gloves
A few accessories

The collection started in October 2009 so I am doing pretty well.

As for my husband...I have personally built up his collection over the years to make laundry manageable and keep him more comfortable than he would on his own. He thanks me regularly.

As for 15+ helmets...who would want to go through the trouble of adjusting all those straps! I could think of a lot better things to collect.

I am heading up to the storage area with hubby now to see if we still have any "vintage" cycling hats. Can you call them vintage if you bought them new?

I just knew this thread would pop up again soon, so I went and counted mine.

Short sleeves 10
Sleeveless 4
Long sleeve 3
Jackets 1, and about to be two when I buy the new REI Stratos Rain Jacket :D

Lots of socks (which I rarely wear, since I go barefooted with sandals...wear smart wools in cooler weather)

...and YES, definitely, I have my favorites which fit me very well so I wear them more than any others!! When I wash them, I fold and place them at the bottom of the pile, then the next time I ride, I take one off the top of the pile...hahaha, this works, right?....NOT!!! At night, my favorites climb to the top of the pile, and then when I go in the closet in the dark and take the top one, doggone if one of my favorites isn't right there on the top!! Does that happen to any of you all, too?!!! ;);)
