hey, Im having to brag - my best friend( whom I am paying a visit soon) told me - oh by the way, while your out here I was thinking maybe I could buy you bike, so we can ride. I found a orbea onix dama used for about 1500!!!

It will be my second bike and my FIRST CARBON ONE!!

Plus, I only have to pay him back some of it!

I was wishing for a onix so what were the odds that his LBS, where he got his Onix would have one IN MY SIZE?!!!!

Its black and orange - not my fav but I love Halloween!!

Oh people who love people who love bikes, are the happiest people of all!!

Its so nice to have some admiring ladies, crowded metaphorically around my new almost in my hot little hands bike.( Her name, being black is 'Nepthys' - the Egyptian goddess of perfection! My other bike is Artemis - being blue and white.)

I'll say. I just found out that it is 2000 not 1500 :eek::Dand he said, dont worry I will cover whatever you cant pay. Man....what a guy!

Whats better is that I stopped freaking out over cost and started to think - hey thats my bike!! I never rode a carbon one. Is it different?

When I went from aluminum to carbon I didn't really notice a difference because I was just not a particularly strong or sophisticated rider. Now, I notice a huge difference from bike to bike in responsiveness and handling (not that I am particularly strong or sophisticated...just lots and lots of miles). Also, higher end bikes tend to have higher end components, which make as much of a difference.

You betcha. I went from an aluminium bike (which, at the time that I bought it, was much lighter than my previous bike) to carbon and it's like night and day.

When I ride the Synapse (the carbon bike) it's like riding on air. When I go up hills I feel like the only thing fighting my climb is my own body weight, not the bike's. Everything about it feels lighter, faster, better.

Also - and maybe people don't like admitting to this - when you need to lift the bike to put it in the back of a ute because you've bonked in the middle of nowhere and have had to get your other half to come get you.. it's MUCH easier to lift!!! :D :o :rolleyes:
