I also bought cider and some artisan goat cheese. They had a yogurt beverage that looked mighty tasty too but my tally was already up to $30.
I'll get that next time:D

The South Mountain milkman has been delivering our milk for months and we will never go back to store bought.

Isn't that eggnog sinful? Worth every glob of fat!!

If I'm not mistaken, they sell their products at local farmer's markets.

Zen, I love your pictures. They look like happy cows! Do they name their cows? I read somewhere (NYT?) that cows who are named give more milk. You have to try the horseradish cream cheese, if you make a return visit. You're lucky to live out there -- that's beautiful country (hopefully, it won't turn into cookie-cutter mcmansion sub-division hell).

I have heard of a source for raw milk around here, but if there any organic dairies that you can just walk in and buy something, I don't know about it. You're lucky!

Karen - They are a family-own/operated business. We've had great service from them and of course, it goes without saying that the milk is great. In the fall, they had "mocha" flavored whole milk, which my coffee-loving husband enjoyed. We go through a half gallon of chocolate whole milk and one of skim milk a week.

Because during the early-mid 70s my mother "cut" our milk with powdered milk (which she always didn't mix in well--clumps, gross) to save money, I really appreciate good milk. Not even Nestles quick, which was a "treat" for special times, could made the stuff palatable. Uggh, thinking about it still makes me have that involuntary gag reaction. :p

Gawd, I remember that awful stuff. My mom did the same thing, and it was such a treat to go to my cousin's or my grandma's house and drink the real thing. (Back when I drank milk.)

Huh. We only had reconstituted powdered milk. No "cutting" anything. I wonder if I'd be so allergic to milk if I hadn't been exposed to whatever powdering does to the proteins...

Dinner a couple of nights ago: freshly-baked pumpkin bread and eggnog. Yee-haw!
