THAT is ridiculous.

I have encountered older people, especially men, who are grouchy and entitled--cutting in line, haranguing clerks, etc. But I don't see why a 34 yo woman wouldn't defer to an elderly gent in giving up the shopping cart? I guess her mother didn't teach her any manners.

what a funny story. maybe the store only had one cart? (and you had to pay to get another one??) (in some countries you have to put a coin into slot to free the shopping cart. .. when you're done with it you bring it back to the dispenser and get your coin back..

Including the US. Aldi is one chain that does that (and I believe their parent company is German).
