Puffy, a 1.5 yr old, female, Chi-Weenie (8 lbs) needs a forever home.
My neighbors had to move and couldn't take her. I have housebroken, crate trained and started basic obedience with her (not much of that is needed - she's very good). Non-yapper, but a good little watchdog (from your lap)... alert barks at door knock or stranger, then quiet.
Good with older kids and cats (most kitties bigger than her)... would be great for a work-from-home person or a retired couple. She just wants to be in a nice warm lap.
She's very shy, but warms up quickly once she knows she's safe. Contact me if you'd like this sweet little girl under your holiday tree (or even after the holidays).
Thanks! spazzdog

She's so cute! I'd expect a itty-bitty dog to behave like all the other dogs in the house, and so the itty-bitty dog would be able to wiggle out of our fence in some places. So that's why I don't have an itty-bitty dog.
I hope she finds a home soon. If she could talk I'm sure she'd say THANKS to you. :)

I've got someone who is interested in Puffy.
Can we give you a call?
spazzdog
12-15-2009, 02:09 PM
Sure Knotted... you have my cell. Call after 6 pm (but not tonight 12/15 - won't be home).
Please folks - she needs a home. I can keep her even into February but it's too soon after my losing Quidditch to get attached to this little girl. I'm happily fostering, but with a guarded heart.
Thank you!

OK.
Do you know if Puffy is spayed? Vaccinated?
spazzdog
12-15-2009, 04:20 PM
Puffy is NOT spayed (yet). She will get shots updated soon.
She just went into heat so spaying can't happen until late Jan-early Feb. Fortunately she's teeny so keeping her safe from amorous boy dogs has been easy. She is an inside doggie.
We are looking for a free/inexpensive spay program, but if a prospective adopter is financially able to do it upon adoption, that would be great.

She is so cute, about the size of our Heidi. I am sure she will find a forever home, thanks for being a foster!
Check your local Humane Society. They are all independent, so they may not run the same programs, but the one I volunteer at offers low cost spays all of the time and occasionally does "spay days" where it is either free or the fee is nominal (something like $5 or $10)
KnottedYet
12-15-2009, 06:09 PM
Unspayed is ok. Prospective adopter is willing to pay for spaying. She will call you tomorrow.
I got a voucher to help with the cost of spaying my doggie.

yes, not enough can be said about fostering. I'm sure she'll find a forever home no problem :) Little dogs find homes so much easier than big ones.

THanks for all the moral support! She is a sweetie.
Please copy and paste her info/photo and distribute to your circles of friends. Am hopeful that somewhere there is someone who can take her and give her lots of loving for many many years to come.

There is a lot of excitement here. 4 different folks willing to transport Puffy to Seattle, a couple vets lined up, eager dog sitters, and supplies ready and waiting.
Can she call you during lunch today? Or does it need to be after 6pm? She really wants Puffy...
spazzdog
12-16-2009, 09:34 AM
It needs to be after 6 because lunch is packed with errands. And, there aren't any little kids (under 12) in household are there? Puffy is so tiny and little kids pulling & tugging wouldn't work.
KnottedYet
12-16-2009, 09:45 AM
Ok, we'll try to temper our excitement... ;)
No children in the household. No intention of children for a while. Just doggie to love and cherish and snuggle and cuddle and kiss and spoil and smoochie and call "poochie lumpkins snuggle-buns."

This has been so exciting to watch. :) I can't wait to hear the news that the pup has found a forever home!
When I was a kid, I loved to read the lost and found in the Pittsburgh paper, to see if any of the "lost pet" matched up with a "found pet" ad. Weird perhaps. But this is a little like that, only way more exciting.

Knotted's work mate wins the prize - a flaming red-headed munchkin to start off the New Year with.
Thank you to everyone for the support. Puffy, once she gets over the big move, will be a wonderful addition to her new Seattle home. Logistics in the planning for pickup :)
Happy holidays everyone!! Adopt or foster a pooch in need. There are so many now with the economy & foreclosure hell.

Due to "circumstances" Puffy will not be going to Seattle for Christmas - SO, little miss cutie-pie is still in need of a home.

Awwww, that's too bad because potential dogma & dogdad are really bummed :(
I hear that Puffy does not like rain? Any chance that she might have changed her mind about a few rain drops by stomping in the puddles with you in the rains we got today?
Or does she still prefer a drier climate?
spazzdog
12-21-2009, 01:05 PM
It was the potential dog-ma that canceled the adoption - potential dog-pa not really "into" little dogs.
The rain thing was no longer an issue (as far as I know).
Oh well.

Her housebreaking is going well - I crate her when I'm at office (in Quid's old crate, which for her is a huge condominium).
She is doing better on the leash - though she's so tiny its faster to carry her sometimes.
She has learned "sit" and am teaching her to play peek-a-boo, which she seems to get a kick out of. She's eager to please, and with a very gentle positive approach to training, could learn all sorts of fun "little dog" things.

She's so sweet. If I were in your area, I'd be tempted and I'm a "Big Dog" person. Usually I'm not smitten by smaller pooches, but you can see that this one has something special...... I think it's the eyes--what a love.

Question: how do you play peek a boo with a dog? :)
spazzdog
12-22-2009, 07:16 PM
When she's on her back getting a belly tickle, she takes her paws up to her eyes (like when a cat washes its face), so i started saying "peek-a-boo" whenever she did it. then if i said it and she did it i tell her good dog! Now she's learning it as a "trick"... she's got it 3-4 out of 10 so far.
Very trainable little pooch.

Well, Puffy should arrive into the arms of Edna & Dave today. She's had a great adventure, I'm sure, driving up with the kind folks who graciously offered to transport her.
I kinda miss the little fur-ball. My house was uncomfortably quiet and I had a bad case of the "pet-lonesomes" since she left. But my time with a new dog buddy will come...
I know I'm not quite ready - I called Puffy "Quid" twice the day she was leaving on her journey... and let me tell you, Puffy in no way resembles the Quid-ster.
Hope everyone has a tail-wagging New Year!

Here's a new family photo we just took a little while ago. Then one of her in DH's recliner. And then a shot of the lap she needs to try to fit into (sharing with Spook and Hairball) Not only a new family member (Buffy - but DH thinks she might need a new name) but we had to play with the new camera to see how the timer worked. :-)
Thanks go to Spazzdog for enabling this "adoption", and to her landlady's Christmas company who were nice enough to drive Buffy to Portland. Retired DH now has someone to keep him out of trouble during the day, while I'm at work. So far, she seems to be a woman's dog, but I'm sure she'll have DH wrapped around her little paw in no time :-)

I am so happy she is with you!
She had a teenage girl as an owner, with younger sister and mom. There was a brother & dad too so she's been around fellas.
I don't have alot of guys in my life, so her 2 weeks with me were mostly just she & I. She did warm up to my landladys BF so no worries. Especially since her days will be spent with your DH.
Hope you enjoy her! Puffy is a sweet little girl... and a new name might just work. I used to call her "Punky" 'cause her little girl used to scissor cut her hair in bad flea season. She looked like a little punk rocker afterwards :)

I vote for "Toughy."
When I got my dog, his name was Shadow. I didn't like that, so I changed it to Shiloh. With my southern accent, I don't think he can tell.
My mom had a dog named Honey Lamb. She adopted it out to someone who changed it to Cunningham.

Yay for Puffy! (and for Edna & Dave, too!!)
We changed both our dogs names after adoption. One was 'Quickdraw' (nice name for a girl puppy?) and we dubbed her Maggie. She was only about 4 months old, though. The other was older (over a year old) and came with the name Jimmy, but we changed it to Charlie and he took to it right away. I think that most dogs just want to be called - they don't care what you call them! ;)

Puffy/Buffy's got a nice new pack! hope she'll bring loads of joy into her new family's life!
When I got my dog, he came with the name "Chevy". I debated changing it because I would never name a dog after a car. But he just looked like a Chevy. And besides, I live in a very pretentious neighbourhood, so it was great having a redneck kind of dog with a trailer park name (no offense to anyone intended by my statement!)
Over the 6.5 years I had him he had a slew of names I called him: Chevs, Chevro, Chevrolet, Ro-Ro, Bumbum, Pupperoni, Baby, Handsome... Towards the end it didn't matter what I called him, he was pretty deaf so there were a lot of hand gestures :)

I'm liking Dave's initial impression "Critter" as it appeals to my southern and wacky senses. I'm also partial to "Red", "Hepburn", "Munchkin", and "Oompa-Loompa" :)
When I got Quid (full name Quidditch) I debated between Quid & Taz... but there were so many Taz's in the doggie world. I was hip deep in Harry Potter novels at the time and decided since he generally flew around like a broom gone wild at a Quidditch game, that would be his name.
What ever you call her will be fun, as long as you don't call her late for supper (you knew that was comin')

Both my dogs came with their (probably shelter-endowed) names: Zeke and Lucy. Lots of Lucy-dogs in the world. I even fostered a little Yorkie named Lucy, too. Haven't run into any other Zekes, ever.
I'm so glad little Puffin got a forever home. I was getting her an airline ticket to Arkansas in my mind. ;)
