I love reading The Pioneer Woman (Ree Drummond).

I can't help it... it's just so GOOD.
(and she's one of Fat Cyclist's fans, too)

I've been reading it for about a year too. I haven't checked it recently, guess I need to go see if there are any new installments!

I like her, too, and I've used some of her recipes.

I love Pioneer Woman! Never made a recipe of hers that wasn't delicious! :)

Thank you for this. What a discovery. I never laughed so hard reading a recipe:

http://thepioneerwoman.com/cooking/2009/03/bbq-meatballs-comfort-food-to-the-max/

"Start with 1 1/2 pounds ground beef. This is home grown, baby.

His name was Alfie."

"And there you have it! Mexican Wedding Cookies.

Hope you enjoy!"

Lots of shortening in her recipes. Alas.

I had a cookie yesterday at a writers' group meeting that I wish I knew how to make. I've been looking on the Internet to try to find it, but I'm not having any luck. It was a toasted marshmallow blob with a smear of dark chocolate on the top, and a sprinkling of slivered almonds on that.

It may have been some sort of meringue cookie, but it tasted like toasted marshmallow to me. It was about the size of a squashed ping pong ball, if that makes sense. The chocolate could have been a melted Kiss or one of those ufo things that are like Kisses, but flatter.

Any thoughts, o baker friends?

I think if I had a family with 3 kids and a ranch to run I'd work off the shortening. No problem for her :p
