Tonight at the gym I dropped a 10-lb plate on my big toe.

I ran it under cold water for a few minutes in the locker room and then finished my workout, since it didn't hurt too bad and it looked okay too. I did get a major league cramp when I was putting on warmer socks for the walk home. I put an ice pack on it for 15 minutes when I got home and now it hurts more.

I've also learned that you can yell "OUCH F***" pretty loudly at my gym and everyone will just ignore you. I wonder what it takes to get people's attention around here. Spurting blood, perhaps?

Ouch ouch ouch. Take care of it - see a podiatrist if you think there's a chance it might be broken.

If it looks like you'll be able to take care of yourself, staff does NOT want to have to file an incident report...

There were no staff people around at the time. The free weight area is on the basement level, and all the employees hang out upstairs unless they're training a client.

I can bend it okay and it's not swollen or discolored, so I don't think it's broken. Just a bit sore. And the corner of the nail must have taken a hit because it feels like it does when it's starting to get ingrown, which is a recurring problem for this toe. But I think it will be okay. I'm very glad it was only a 10-lb weight. If it had been one of the 45-lb plates, it would have been a whole nuther story.

I'm still hopeful that I will be able to wear heels to the company holiday party tomorrow. I bought the cutest dress from Loft and it would not work at all with flats. But the shoes I was planning to wear are Clarkes, and they're really comfortable. So it might work out.

That's gotta hurt like crazy.

Good luck with the party shoes.

I am really lucky. The toe is already feeling better.

Thanks everyone!

Ouch! To both the smashed toe and the thought of wearing heels. I'm glad your toe is feeling better.

Enjoy wearing your heels. I can't anymore and I miss them:(
