Anybody up for it? Maybe a little further south this time.

I'm interested. Where and when?

Hey! I was just thinking about this yesterday and wondering if we should get the ball rolling on something. Thanks!
I'd be up for something, too. I can't do this weekend (the 5th), or Christmas weekend, but other weekends work...
For folks new to the Mid-Atlantic scene....
Last year a few of us joined up in Frederick, MD for a holiday celebration brunch. Good time was had by all. Not a bike involved. Just food, drink, and laughs.
Something in the D.C. area this time??

Here it is: http://forums.teamestrogen.com/showthread.php?t=28068&page=8
Hopefully, this will go right to page 8, by when the event actually took place!!

I wasn't able to go last year but would like to try and join in this year!

I was up in Frederick over the weekend and was also thinking of this. My schedule's unfortunately a bit tight since I'm working every Saturday between now and Christmas, so I'll have to wait and see what day works for everyone else before I commit.

I'd be interested. I'm crazy busy between now and Christmas and have lots to do on weekends, but I think I have some flexibility in my schedule as long as it all gets done in the end.

I'll start with a date.
Sunday the 13th or Sunday the 20th.

Location?

Either date works for me.

Maybe Bethesda/Rockville/Silver Spring? Kinda halfway for the Virginia folks and the Frederick folks.

If it's in Silver Spring, I'd have ideas. Bethesda, we could figure something out easily. Rockville, my knowledge is limited to vegan restaurants and Chipotle so I'm not much help there.

How 'bout Silver Spring on the 13th??

I wish I could join y'all! But it would require an overnight trip and I'm not up for that. Let me know if any of you head down Richmond way and I'll show you around...Have fun.

Nah, you could drive up in the morning, have lunch, visit Proteus, and drive home in the late afternoon. Piece of cake!:);)

13th in SS works for me.

Nah, no reason to rush a visit to Proteus (or lunch with everyone, of course). I'll do it another time.

That sounds like the best option for me. My sister has a PET scan coming up and I will go home to be there when she gets the results, as I'm sort of a integral part of her medical team. :) I think she's planning it so I go home the end of that week and therefore the following weekend. So the 13th woudl work out well for me, I do believe! As does Silver Spring!

You also know all the Chipotle locations in NYC ;)

I could do SS on the 13th if someone wants to pick me up at the Metro station.

Ooooo, can I play, too, please?

SS has tons of places: Burmese, Ethiopian, Indian, Chinese, sushi, Red Lobster, Macaroni Grill, Panera, Austin Grill, Lebanese, Tex-Mex, Italian, seafood, and on and on and on.

I'll be away skiing on the 13th, so can't make it. But I have no idea if I can make the 20th, that's getting close enough to christmas that I'm sure I have to go to someone's christmas party somewhere.

Enjoy! One of these days I'm going to make it to one of the group things.

Didn't you just hack up some lung tissue on a skiing trip, or is that what you're planning to do on the 13th?

Leaving on the 6th. BAck on the 16th. I'm hoping that this sore throat goes away and I don't have to hack up a lung on my ski trip. it hasn't fully developed into a cold, but my sore throat is getting a bit sorer.

Yes! Golden Shwegyi Cake!!!!!!!

I don't know what that is. Is that the dessert I can't eat because it's not vegan? Love the sticky rice dessert.

And the tofu with sour mustard.
And the yellow beans with onions.
And the papaya salad.
And the samosa appetizer.
And the pineapple ice cream.
And the coconut ice cream.
And the veggies with tofu skins.
And the noodle dish that's four different noodles.

I love that place. I think we should go there for our lunch on the 13th.

So.....
Mandalay (http://www.mandalayrestaurantcafe.com/) on the 13th? Or do you prefer the 20th? How about noon? 1 p.m.? If the weather is good, I'd likely do the shop ride in the a.m., so I won't be the freshest (but I'll be HUNGRY!), but I could bring a change of clothes and at least be in clean(ish) clothes.
If it's 1 or later, I'd likely go home and clean up for real. ;)

The 13th; the 20th is too close to Christmas. (Plus I wouldn't be able to make it. :D)

Mandalay is fine with me, but I hope others will weigh in.

Oy, it's going to be tough for me to do either of those days since they're the only days off I'll have after this coming Monday. If it's ok, I'm gonna have to play it by ear and give y'all a last minute RSVP.

I just remembered that one thing about Mandalay is they won't seat you until the whole party is present. So if we have anyone who is chronically late it might not be the best place to go.

Zen
12-07-2009, 07:33 AM

Let's stick with it.

If you're late you have to stand outside and watch through the window while we eat.

As was I. I forgot that a work party was planned for that day. Not that I'm obligated to go, but the person who planned it is also a friend. So that sort of obligates me. :) I swear I really do exist - divingbiker's even met me. :)

Sure, Zen, let's go and break a hip. That'll be fun. :p (I was just thinking of putting my ice skates (nice ones) on CL.)

So if the weather's not bad are you still going to bail, or will you come join us?

My T score is -2.6
I'm on 50,000 units of vit D once a week:o For the uninitiated, this is severe osteoporosis.

If the weather is not bad, I be at the SS Metro no later than 12:30

OK, so we're meeting at Mandalay at 930 Bonifant Street in Silver Spring at 1 tomorrow, right?

Zen, it may be easier to pick you up at the Takoma Station since there's so much construction at the SS station. What do you think, Regina?

I'll be there. And from the looks of the forecast, I will be there without a ride beforehand (except maybe for rollers).

Construction at Silver Spring doesn't impact access to and egress from the Metro station. It's fenced off well and there are pedestrian ways maintained, but you have to walk AROUND the construction site.
See:
http://maps.google.com/maps?q=silver+spring+md&ie=UTF8&hl=en&hq=&hnear=Silver+Spring,+Montgomery,+Maryland&ll=38.992897,-77.02859&spn=0.006146,0.016469&z=17
Get off SS on the South (east?) side - where it says "to buses". If you come down the double escalator, take the exit on your right (the one with lots of turnstiles, not just 3). Walk straight out past the construction site along Colesville Rd, up the hill to your right on Wayne Ave, a right on Georgia Ave., first left across GA onto Bonifant. The restaurant is halfway down the block on your right.

But Zen isn't walking to Bonifant. I'm picking her up, if she is able to come. So I thought that the Kiss & Ride area was affected by the construction.
