Thanks for sharing that Trek:D The article was fun to read, and looks like a great website. I used to get comments like all that time when I would wrench for these bike tours, and for the most part itwas always humorous. I once had a big muscular guy come up to me on the ferry(we were headed to Nova Scotia) and ask if I could put a road tire on for him. Of course, if you looked at him with all of his muscles, and ten at me... well let's just say that the bets would be on him. He seemed like a nice guy adn one that was embarressed to even be asking... but he couldn't get the tire on and neither could his buddies. The end result was that he wanted to be able to ride when we got off the ferry. He doubted that I could get the tire on, adn actually ended up betting me a 6 pack of beer. So, I took the bet, and in a matter of a few seconds had the tire on. The looks on his and his friends faces were something I'll never forget ;) Realizing that he was embarressed, I said to him " it's not about strength when installing a tire... if it were you would have been able to do it over me. It's about technique, would you like me to show you how? So I showed all of the guys, told them to keep their beer but reminded them next time to be a bit nicer to the mechanic. Needless to say, they were very nice through the entire tour, would bring me snacks to munch on while I was working, and even rode with me at times.:D

HA!!! That's my coach in the first picture! Lynda W., in our team kit! She rocks, that's for sure!!!!
When I was in DC for the Breast Cancer 3-Day, my friend and I passed two roadies. I started chuckling when I realized they would never, ever live it down. They got passed by two girls. On mountain bikes. Wearing tutus. :)

Bicic, when I'm in shape and trained and stuff like that I've gotten the compliment of "didn't I pass you back .... somewhere back there . several times  ... dayum, you just keep going, dontcha?:cool:" from folks who passed me then I arrive and they are passed out on a lawn.
Riders appreciate what it takes to have endurance and skill. Just keep riding!

Refreshing read. Some guys are just too stuborn to admit that there are better/faster riders out there. And it might be a woman. :D :D
My body is too messed up and I'm too old to be pulling stunts like that. Just ride for me these days. I don't mind if an 80 YO grandpa passes me. Heck I'm old enuf to be a grandma myself. :D :D

Nice article. I don't race but I do commute to school every day and run errands and I admit, if I pass a man I work extra hard to keep ahead. Its helped my uphill speed :)
Bike Chick

I would chick------if I could--------but I've never been the strongest rider in the group. I dream about being that girl on the cover of Bicycling magazine with the chiseled legs and gorgeous tan. You know....the one that fills out her spandex so perfectly and climbs like a goddess:rolleyes: But somehow when the gray hair sticks out from under the helmet and the spider veins catch the sunlight, it jolts me back to reality and awakes me from my fantasy. Ha! Ha!
Seriously, I have chicked a few times but only on guys that enjoy telling everyone how fast, tough, good they are. Amazing how quickly they shut up when they get beat by a girl. It's a great feeling!
