It must be the visceral pleasure of writing on paper, placing stamp on envelope:

'Fraid I couldn't pick up this trend. My handwriting has severely deteroriated.:o I can barely read my own handwritten notes.

The three gals in my office who are in their late twenties have taken up knitting. Doing their part to keep an up-town yarn / embroidery shop in business.
I still write (via email) my pen-pal from an ad she put in a quilting magazine over 15 years ago. Sometime I wish we were back to the old letter writing days. We'd send about 5-6 a year, and each one was a little package - the letter and a bit of quilt fabric.

The knitting redux trend among the younger folks is an interesting thing. All good.

I have a lot of friends that knit and quilt. I used to crochet and tat, but I'm on the computer so much during the day that my hands and wrists ache when I try to crochet :( I miss it.
However, I have a friend from college that I write about 6 times a year. I send her real letters in the mail.
