I did a 37 minute HIM swim. I was OK with that, but I think I could do better. I need someone who can look at my swimming and make specific suggestions on what I need to change. My kinesthetic sense isn't very good. I can't watch a video and then emulate it.

A few years ago I tried a swim coach in Sacramento. It wasn't a good mesh. Now I want to try again and I'm looking for some suggestions.

I live in the North Lake Tahoe area. I'm willing to drive to Reno, Carson City, or as far as Sacramento.

Any suggestions?

(BTW, we do have a masters swim club here, but it's at 6am. Since I work until 10-10:30pm that's not a possibility.)

TIA

I hear good things about Total Immersion, and I know that they have (pricey) workshops that come around the country. If you have a local triathlon club, they might be able to point you in the right direction. You could also contact the folks at the masters swim program and see if their coaches do personal coaching on the side.

Good luck!

Last week called the Y and talked to the aquatics director. She was more than happy to evaluate my stroke. I swam and she got up in the lifeguard chair to watch. It was a great help! She said I don't need lessons or a coach just gave me some instruction and said she would take a peak any time.

I second the suggestion of contacting the masters group. I know that our masters coaches also do privates and are great.

I've found someone in Reno, through Slowtwitch. I was supposed to get together with him yesterday, but the snow prevented me from getting there. We've rescheduled for next week.
