Dang it!

But I can justify everything I bought, really!! I needed another pair of panniers which are exactly like the ones I already have! And the garment bag pannier, because I might get to commute to work someday! (Oh, yes, I might! I know I can't do it now, but that doesn't mean I won't be able to someday! Stop that laughing!!) The extra little lights -- good for backup! Very small and light! -- were under $6! How could I pass those up?!?! A safety vest is always a good idea, I'm sure you'll agree, especially since I want to be able to ride at night. And they were a bargin; of course I needed an extra! Yes, I already have a handlebag and an underseat bag, but the first could be a little larger, and the other is looking very dirty these days, plus one of the letters of the brandname has come clean off! And and and... the other stuff, I might give to someone else, really, I might, and the prices were sooo good, I knew I should snap these items up now, while the prices were soooo good, and yes, I really might give the other stuff to someone else!

Yes, yes, I needed this stuff; I saved a bundle by buying it!! Really!!!!

After the various customer service issues with Nashbar and Performance, I steer clear of them. Truth is that I trust neither w/my credit card info. Isn't Nashbar the one whose site was hacked and then it took them months to inform customers that their credit card info was compromised? IIRC, Performance was charging just a little more than what was on your invoice to your credit card (this was 18 months or so, I think---I found out about it from folks on TE who noticed it).

I was one of the folks whose info was stolen. Luckily I had already cancelled the card for a different reason, so no harm done.

I'm sure Nashbar and Performance are being much more careful these days. (but I'm no longer one of their customers)

Yup, me too. Luckily my cc company caught it and canceled my card and issued me a new one. I know everyone makes mistakes, but one strike of this sort and you're out with me.

The thing that ticked me off about the Nashbar data breach was that the coupon they sent me in apology was only good for 30 days after the date of the letter (and of course I received the letter at least a week later than it was dated). Data breaches happen, but that seemed like crappy customer care to me.

I wasn't affected by the cc problem, had only done Performance in-store & cash with them last couple years. But needed a couple things that Nashbar had on the 72 things sale (previous iteration at Halloween) and decided to give them a chance.

Turns out they charged me the non-72 item sale price (not full price, but not the special price)!! And didn't inform me that one of the items was out of stock. Took a call and email before they straightened it out. Quick refund. But WATCH OUT if you do order on this sale, and save your confirmation email.

Count me among the reformed...I won't be going back. Darn. In these economically pinched times I need those kinds of sales here and there!

I, too, have been burned by both Performance & Nashbar. No more. There is a Performance retail store about 40 miles from me & their stock is dismal. Won't be going back in-store or online for either retailer.

I've been satisfied with bags from Nashbar/Performance but the clothing has ranged from ok to "what-were-they-thinking?" to completely unacceptable.
