Well, they're calling it the Grand Prix again this year. Didn't they have a different name last year? It is Sunday, September 4th. The website is not up to date. The team list still shows last year's teams. Discovery's website shows the race on their schedule, so I assume they will be there. George won in 2001 and took 3rd last year.

I really want to go again, but I have other plans. Trek420 and I wandered all over the city last year. It was fun. I wanted to watch the Fillmore Street hill this time (25% grade!!??!!). But I guess I'll have to miss it. :(

Here's (http://www.procyclingtour.com/race_overview.cfm/race_id/13) their website.

T-Mobile is no longer the sponsor, but I read someplace that CSC will be the title sponsor for the next 3 years. Since nothing has been announced I guess it isn't finalized yet.

The bad part is that this years SF Grand Prix has dropped the womens races entirely due to "lack of sponsorship". I'd think that a sponsor is a sponsor... they shouldn't divide them between events.

poop!

As for CSC, I read somewhere (maybe VeloNews) that it was a done deal. Maybe they'll do a fancy announcement at the event.

From Velonews
Ivan Basso is on a tear in the Tour of Denmark, winning the opening two stages and controlling the race leader's yellow jersey.

The Tour de France runner-up told VeloNews he's likely to race the T-Mobile International on September 4 as part of his late-season racing schedule.

"It's not sure, but it's 90 percent sure I will race in San Francisco," Basso said.Velonews is still calling it the T-Mobile International... Hmmmmm...

VN didn't get the memo renaming the baby. They'll catch up... one hopes.

It's hard to keep up with the name changes and I wish they had a central site. When you do a search they keep re-inventing the wheel for the 2003, 2004 race.

So Spazz, are you coming out to watch the race and ride with us again?? We could meet and you could see how nice the long inseams of the shorts you gave me disguise the inner-thigh fat that besets me. ;)

Wish I could, but school starts  Sept 6th so I have to get my pencil box ready :D

I'm saving my 'free' ticket for the '06 Cinderella... I think it happens during my spring break.
