Car doors can be dangerous, even when you are NOT on the bike. Yeah this was one of those complete flukes that happens. This has been killing me all this week riding. I iced it like crazy right after it happened but it's begun to get hard where the door hit. That is the top of my quad in case you can't tell (it's hard to take a picture of you own leg).:D It seems to be itching inside the bruising now? Is that normal?
Get some Arnica and let that muscle rest.

Ouch, that looks painful. When I've had a sprained ankle or bruising I've found it helpful to soak in the tub with very warm/hot water and Epsom salts. Old fashioned, but it still works, you might give it a try. :)
Ouch! Yes, itching is normal.

Zen is correct. Arnica will help with the pain and make the bruise go away quicker. I had a rottweiler induced spilled a few months ago and sustained some serious bruising all over both legs. I used both the topical Arnica and the pills. Worked like a champ.
That is some bruise! I hope you feel better soon. Keeping some blood flowing through the area---light spinning, nothing difficult---always helps me heal faster.
