I am going to "guest teach" a class at my local training facility. Now, I love dance music but I don't think that would go over well with this group. Can you ladies post some playlists for me?? Thanks!!!!!!!

Oh...you'd be surprised what "goes over well" in a spin class. I take a spin class with a particular instructor at my gym, twice a week. She always...and I do mean ALWAYS...uses "house" music for her classes. She gets a very diverse group, too. Old, young, middle-aged, black, white, hispanic, male, female...you name it. I've never really heard anyone ever complain about her choice of music...as long as it's pumping, we don't really care. :D I say...go with the dance music. You won't be able to please everyone, all of the time anyway. ;)

Ramones--Loud and Fast. It's a greatest hits compilation and I frequently listen to it in lieu of Spinervals music when on the trainer.

Of course, don't know how the Ramones would go over in a spin class. ;)

These are great ideas! Can anyone recommend a download service other than iTunes that they've used with good results? Though I've ripped plenty of songs for my MP3 player, I've never downloaded music before :o

Thanks!

Anything by Queen...

Yes!

Although I'm not sure how motivating "Who Wants to Live Forever" will be :D It always makes me sad.

I've been buying songs of Amazon - usually cheaper than itunes if you are only looking for single songs. It's a pain though because each one shows up individually (which is probably my own fault but I can't figure out how to change it).

Two other songs that work really well:

Girlfriend - Avril Lavigne
Hanging by a Moment - Lifehouse (great for spinning - multiple tempos to work with)

I love to spin to almost anything. One of my instructors even throws in some country, and I even like that (eventhough I don't really listen to country) I just love all of the suggestions here. My only comment is: mix up the music. Don't play the same type with the same sound for the entire workout. It gets really boring. I have had instructors play the same type (for example the dance music) for the entire workout. It is pure torture. It makes me want to leave the class, and I boycott instructors who I know do that. Just my $.02.

OK, don't laugh, but two different instructors use Creed at times, and I find it hugely inspirational. Can you Take Me Higher is a great song for a climb!

Almost any song by Creed, Nickleback, Lincoln Park, New Order, or My Chemical Romance.

My favorite though is trance/tecno especially DJ Tiesto.

Sandstorm by DaRood is very popular in spin class here.

The class I went to today, the instructor used "Take Me Down to the Paradise City" by Guns N Roses for an exercise where we increased cadence. I though it was clever!
