Specialized Shoes Stretch!

I went to buy the used Specilized carbon mtn bike shoes, excited as heck to get a great deal. I had tried the same exact pair on in a store and I was a size 39. The gal who was selling them said she couldn't figure out why they are too big for her now, but she needed to buy another pair.

I tried on her pair and my heel popped out the back. Despite changing the screws on the buckle to a tighter position, no go.

My Sidi mtn bike shoes have never done this, so beware, if you buy Specilized you may need to go to a smaller size to account for stretch.

my specialized road shoes have never done that, but I just ordered a pair of riata's....hmm, I hope I don't have that problem with them!!

I wish my Torch shoes would stretch. They're too small.

As I was a the bike shop, I had the opportunity to try both the new and the used pair side by side. It wasn't just the length of the shoe that stretched, it felt like the body of it had too. Granted, I realize that there is going to be some give over time, but my Sidis simply have not done this!

I had a pair of Specialized road shoes for 4 months that I wished would've stretched but didn't---I had to order another pair a half size bigger and now I'm trying to sell my used pair. Maybe it's just the mountain bike shoes. Hmmmm.

Yours too? Seems that I've gained a size since I started running. The guy at the shoe store says thats normal.

But aren't men's shoes really wide in the heels?

That's what I've found with so-called "unisex" motorcycling boots. There are very few that I can wear. Motorcycling boots don't need to fit very well - just well enough that they don't cause pain or numbness, and won't come off in a crash.

Most of the boots that are long enough for me in the toe and wide enough in the forefoot, are also so wide in the heel and high in the instep that they pull clear off my feet.

They are but I try to stuff 'em with a good insole and wear thicker socks.

My Specialized Tahos are too bad. My 5.10's are rather wide. :rolleyes:
