View Full Version : Question on Cateye Strada Wireless

Hey ladies....I've been using a Cateye Strada Wireless for about 2 years now. I finally had to change out the batteries (on both the computer & sensor) this past weekend. Following the instructions, I had to re-set the computer...which meant it wiped out my total accumulated mileage. I was surprised that there was nothing in the instructions (that I could find, anyway)...indicating how to re-enter my total mileage. I'm rather bummed that the computer has been set back to ZERO. Am I missing something here? Or is there some trick to re-entering your mileage after a battery change? Is this common on all Cateye computers? My riding buddy has a Blackburn and a Specialized computer, and he can re-enter his mileage on both of them. I would think that Cateye computers would have had this feature, too. I'm hoping that I just haven't figured it out yet. Anybody out there know if this is possible?

According to my Cateye Strada Wireless manual:

"Total distance manual entry
................................ Before reinitializing the computer, note the total distance. This reading will later allow you to enter the total distance
manually. Pressing MODE increases the value, and pressing
and holding MODE moves to the next digit."

The instructions for manual entry of total distance are on the second page, on the left side, towards the bottom of the page.

What Melissam said. It's kind of buried in the instructions and hard to find. I always need to search for it...

Ahhh, yes...thank you SO much! I did indeed find it in my instruction sheet. Funny thing is...I actually read over that part multiple times, but for some reason, didn't make the connection that it was for re-setting the total mileage...DOH!! :o

nscrbug, I can see how you didn't connect that part in the instructions with what you wanted to do on the computer.

BTW, how many miles did/do you have on the odometer?

grrr... I have a Strada Wireless on my commute bike that just went blank after about two years (needs batteries). So you have to write down the total mileage and then re-enter it?

that seems like bad engineering.

on my Cateye Double wireless, you do have to perform some sort of reset procedure after changing the batteries but it remembers your data -- you don't lose total mileage.

I'm actually just on my way out the door to pick up some things at the drugstore, including batteries. How lucky I should notice this thread now...

BTW, how many miles did/do you have on the odometer?

I had 7,363 miles on it...woooo!!!! However, that is since day 1 of using the Strada...which dates back to the Spring of 2008. It's also the total mileage for 2 bikes...I bought a new one this past May.

So far, for this year...I've logged 3,877 miles on my new Cervelo since my maiden ride on her on May 31st. Add to that the miles I put on my Trek prior to buying the new bike, and my total for the season thus far is...4,607. Not too shabby for only my 2nd full year of riding. ;)

Ummm....no. :o I'll have to get on that...if I can figure out where it is. :D
