We got in on the third wave, got there about 5am. Bottom line, we got $1500 of merchandise for $291!!

Here is what we got:

4 person tent: $50 (usually $250)
Camp Shelter: $24.99 (usually $199)
3 pairs of Hiking shoes, Teva Sandals: each $15!!
REI mid size luggage: $49 (usually $250)
Swiss Army Luggage carry on: $39 (usually $150)

And the deals went on! I thought they would reduce the prices, but NOT this much!! It was amazing and worth getting up early for. There were about 20 tents with people who camped out the night before, what a hoot! I can tell you I will NEVER pay $150 for a pair of hiking boots again. I got a pair of Keen boots, typically prices at $110 for $15, and they had some Vasque boots and some other great brands for just $15 (I couldn't find any Vasque that fit me). Some of the boots were brand new, like my Keens.

So, we are planning on the Spring Garage sale too. We met some wonderful people while waiting and exchanged numbers. A great social event too!

What fun! I wish we had an REI close to here. Might be worth finding out if the one in Denver has a Garage Sale and planning a visit to the parents/grandparents.

I could not agree more!!! I totally scored on a mid-sized pack and some clothing. I did not get there until about 10am but was VERY PLEASED with the selection! I will be there earlier in the spring.

I seldom pay regular retail at REI. I wait for the super clearance sales (50% off prices ending in .83) or the garage sales. I have so many great things that I got cheap cheap cheap at the garage sales!
