did one more sprint just for the heck of it, yesterday. Approached with a Sunday drive attitude, but it ended up being pretty difficult. I have a calf muscle pain, so I agreed to myself that I wouldn't run if it hurt.

First leg, 750m swim, wet suit, frigid water, 5th out of the water, my lungs hurt from breathing so hard, think I swam the fastest I ever had. I thought, well, I might drop out after swimming so make the swim good. 11 mins.

The transition was 1k UPHILL on a dirt road, so I decided to walk, which meant all the later swimmers passed me. Transitioned to bike, thought it would be rolling hills but it was some long steep climbs, fastest going downhill 62 kph. (20K bike) 50 mins total.

Again, said to myself, probably won't run, so bike as hard as you can, since I might drop out in the run. Got to transition and said to myself, wooh, slow down, no need to transition fast since you might drop out in the run, then all that rush and stress for nothing. The run was around the tiny pueblo, up, flat, down, flat, up. 4 times (5k), walked UPhill, on each one and voila, finished the race without even meaning too and third! 33 mins total.

The whole thing took me about 1:50 mins, long for a sprint but mostly taken up in transitions. Last sprint I did was less than 1:30. STUNNING landscape. Fun, since I kept thinking I wasn't gonna finish!

Nice work. T1 is ridiculous. Sounds like you toughed out an unexpected tough course. Congrats!

Sounds fun! Do you have a link to the scenery so we can pretend we're there? ;)

Third, too, and fifth out of the water. Nice job!! :D

Oh, I will try to get pictures.
My swim time of 13 minutes was less than my T1 time of 14 minutes....

Wow, it's pretty, in a different way than the states. Almost like mashing up the southwest and the northwest. :)
