Yesterday we had a beautiful ride but an unlucky day. :( DH lost the binoculars that were strapped on to the back of his bike bag, and I left my gloves in the rest room at Burger King when I went to change.

But today was a lucky day. :D We stopped at Performance Bikes on the way home from our ride to replace my gloves and they were having a tent sale with a lot of clearance items, and a radio station was broadcasting on site to promote it. DH "spun the wheel" at the radio station table and won the big prize- a $250 gift card!

So what would YOU spend it on?

We haven't spent it all- but we were able to get a lot of things we needed...

I got the replacement gloves and a 2nd pair that won't leave my fingers exposed, a new pump, 2 tires, sleeveless & long-sleeved jerseys for him, a compact "multi-tool" with allen wrenches and screwdrivers, a pair of Lake shoes that were marked down to $15, a rack for the "errand bike"... We looked for economy rather than luxury, and amazingly, there's almost $100 left on the card.

I'm thinking of commuting a couple days a week, so I reckon I'd go for one of these:

Congrats!! That's pretty cool!

I'd get some better warm weather gear for commuting in the winter.
Or some fenders for my Bike Friday (I just made my own out of an old tire, wire hanger, and electrical tape because I'm too cheap to spend $50).

I know for sure the gift card wouldn't last very long in my possession...

Tri Girl, you homemade fender sounds great!

Hmmm...I'd get a roof rack for my car. Or as much of one as $250 would buy.

Probably some fancy-schmancy Sidi shoes, if they fit.

Wow. That's pretty cool.
Too bad Performance doesn't sell binoculars. :(

Do you have a bike stand? I love ours, it is the Spin Doctor and wasn't much more than $100. Perfect for washing bikes and doing repairs.

I would buy $250 worth of Gu and go on a bender.

1. Schwalbe winter (studded) marathon tires 700c x 35: $150
2. Fenders for 700c x 35 tires: $20
3. 3 Ankelites (http://www.pedalite.com/anklelitefaq.aspx): $60 (two for ankles, one for left arm for turn signals) - though I should probably just try one and see how I like it.

I would not go on a bender with Zen as fun as it sounds. I would like to see if I could find a pair of insulated boots for riding.

Yesterday I spent $286.00 on cold-weather clothes that will work for both XC skiing and cycling. I got a great pair of pants and matching jacket by Salomon. The pants are awesome - they're flared at the bottom, like I wanted for skiing, but you can snap them to make them tapered for cycling. I love that techy material - so lightweight and stretchy but warm and wind-resistant. It's all black. If it werent' for the reflective trim, I'd be "Bike & Ski Ninja"! If I'd had a $250 gift card that's what I would have got yesterday.

Now that I already have those clothes, if I had $250 I would get some good gloves, a nice thin hat to go under my helmet, clipless pedals with shoes, and some great socks.
