Spazzdog has been working her little paws to the bone so please send her a few treats. Based on my inarticulate and rambling requests, she's created a wonderful preliminary design that is veddy, veddy close. While we know the Voler art department will make some more changes based on their experience we thought we'd get this out there for the world to see. http://home.comcast.net/~spazzdog/images/AV_complete_sm.jpg

Plus, here's our new blog spot, www.amiciveloci.org (http://www.amiciveloci.org) !!!!
We've got a lot of team members that aren't part of this wonderful TE forum so now we've got a place to keep them up to date on our happenings and, in the future, Amici Veloci tattoo and jersey sightings.

The order form should be posted in the next few days and I'll add the link to the blog and post it here. Miss Snap is in charge of collecting orders from anyone and everyone who is so inclined to join us. Our current order deadline is August 22nd though this may change a bit as Voler is a tad behind on the women's club cut jersey (not their fault - the manufacturer of the lycra used in their shorts in going out of business which has impacted their whole delivery cycle).

On the women's club cut - it will have no elastic in the hem, a slightly shorter length, and will flare a bit at the hips. The bust will be adjusted slightly to better accomodate our curves. I tried on prototype #2 on Monday and it fits really nicely. Sizing info can be found at www.voler.com.

Oops, once last thing -- the secret message on the inside of the pocket will be "Another hare racing story" to go with our collar message, "Embrace your inner tortoise," as coined by Veronica.

Glad y'all are likin' it. I love designing jerseys... just don't get much of a chance to do it. Thanks SadieKate, for letting me help out with an already fun design.

Thank you, thank you...

But really, it is all SadieKates art. She's the "artist". All I did was put it all together on the jersey template under her direction. My part was all cuttin', pastin', layering and re-sizing. I am just the mechanic on this one.

Really nice!! I can't wait! I like that the chain rings are off-center. They look great like that! Dead center would look like a target. Non-symmetrical gives it extra style!

Just my 2 cents.

WOW!! That is one of the most awesome jerseys I've seen in awhile - re: Huge Primal Wear fan! The design has just blown me away! (notice it didn't hush me up any tho ;) ) I would be doubly honoured to wear that!!

Kudos to Spazz, SK, and whomever else was involved in putting this together!

Please let me know when they're ready for ordering (I'd put off paying a bill to buy one of those!)

Thanks, one and all. Spazz and I may just have to do some more collaborating.

Here’s a little update and some info:

Ordering – we should have the order form up early next week. We’ll let you know immediately upon posting it. Spazz is testing locations and links for it right now.

Category 1 Styles (must meet a minimum of 25 items total)
-- short sleeve in both race and club cuts for either gender (women’s club!!!! Woo-hoo!)
-- sleeveless in both race and club cuts for either gender
-- wind vest in unisex cut (assume men’s cut)
-- thermal vest in unisex cut

Category 2 Styles (To make this category happen, we must get a minimum order of 10 long sleeve jersey/jackets PLUS 15 arm warmers to meet the min of 25 items total)
-- long sleeve in both race and club cuts for either gender
-- long sleeve wind jacket in unisex cut (assume men’s cut)
-- long sleeve thermal jacket in unisex cut

Arm Warmers??....what would the arm warmers look like????

I Would LOVE some arm warmers!

SadieKate
07-29-2005, 02:25 PM
Well, so far . . . red. :D

My little brain is turning over its cogs. Maybe a black stripe down the arm to mimic the black side panel. Team name somewhere. I'm mulling, I'm spinning, I'm cranking . . . Bubba really, really, really wants arm warmers so I'm hoping that we meet the minimum.

If all else fails, I purposely (and fate helped) picked the same red that Voler uses in their standard unadorned arm warmers. At least they'll match.

They'd make a good gift! Anyone??

well it's nice to know I"m not alone then AG - coz I didn't know that either!!

SK: red is fine, red with black stripe is fine, red with black stripe and team name is fine, red with black stripe, purple cuffs and team name would be awesome! LOL......even plain red I would still order the arm warmers since I only own 1 pair right now anyway. Heck I'd prolly order 2 if I can afford it.

Well, I didn't pronounce right and I was talking to the Voler reps. However, my last name is french and it is been heavily 'murkinzed. Voler is a California company where we say "derailer" not "de-rail-e-u" or whatever. You get my drift. :p

Just dropped my order form and check into the mail...now if I want to recruit I should know how ya'll are pronouncing Amici Veloci? With my best Italian accent I'm saying "amee-chee velo-chee", am I close or is it murcanized "ami-cee velo-cee"???

BTW - Will items be available later on as well (if someone saw the jersey and really wants to order after 8/19)??

SadieKate
08-08-2005, 08:47 AM
"amee-chee velo-cheeThis is the closet to my pronunciation with the accent on the "mee" and the "lo"

BTW - Will items be available later on as well (if someone saw the jersey and really wants to order after 8/19)??Not unless they want to order 25 of them! Sorry! Since these are custom, it is a one time shot. Get out there and recruit! Price will drop to $62.50 for the short sleeve or sleeveless items if we can get the total to 50 items.

BTW, thanks for your support (from Bartles & James)

We MUST have the order and payment to Voler on 8/22 and she and/I need to do the collating and double-checking and cross-checking and drinking. :p Sure, you can order on 8/19 if you are using PayPal. If by check, Snap needs your check in her paws by the 19th.

Soon as I hear from her we'll post a final, drop dead, "no orders accepted after" time.

HOWEVER, if you know you'll be paying via PayPal at the last minute please make sure Snap has your order form or all the necessary details. That way we can continue compiling the order with a balance due on some items.Voler has asked for a preliminary count as soon as possible.

Thanks, Corsair and one and all for your support and enthusiasm.

OK, after tearing through all my jerseys, I discovered I have a Voler jersey! Yay! It's too small right now. Yay! Who cares, it's a mens club cut and I like it, so I'm ordering that. Then I'll hang it up on the closet door as incentive to stick to the dang diet!!!

Still don't know wtf about the arm warmers tho...

I hemmed and hawed about size a good bit too. I was on the cusp between the Large and X-Large. Would have been definitely an X-large last year 20 pounds ago. Will never lose the broad shoulders though. But I bit the bullet and went for just the Large. Even back before babies and in excellent BMI range I was never smaller than a 12. Not tall - just a broad BROAD! :D

Glad to hear I'm not the only one who had a big debate.

Ditto on the debate, I'm pretty sure the 3X I ordered will be a bit big but I didn't want anything clingy (no sense enhancing the "michelin man" look ;) ). I'm wondering though...can a jersey be taken-in?? I can't sew on a button but I know a good seamstress.

sadiekate-what is the waist like on the womens club cut? ...I think you resolved your dilemna but I just looked at my women's Race Cut Voler jersey. The waist is tapered in just a tid bit and the club cut will be the same. It is the hips that were made a bit more spacious.l

OK, I'll make some measurements on arm warmers and post.

Lying flat on the table, the width of the top/bicep end and then the lentgth:

XS - 4 1/8" wide and 17" long
S - 4 1/2" and 17 1/4"
M - 5" and 18 1/8"
L - 5 3/8" and 18 3/8"
XL - 6 and 18 3/8"

The fabric is a nice thick lycra with a fuzzy interior. Should be really nice for the coming colder weather.

Sorry about the delayed response. Been out riding . . .

and what do the arm warmers look like, exactly? did you go with just red, or is there a matching design?

how would arm warmers look with a sleeveless jersey, anway?

~T~Arm warmers haven't been designed yet but will match the jersey and have the team name on them.

If we can't get the minimum order, the red of the jersey is the same red Voler uses for their standard plain arm warmers on www.velowear.com.

With sleeveless, I think they'll look like evening gloves. You can just be the Audrey Hepburn of the mtbike trails.

You would look Marvahlous dahlink.....simply marvahlous!!

(I wear arm warmers and sleeveless in the fall here a lot where the lows are in the upper 50s, lower 60s but the highs are still up the 90s)

sadiekate turned in our order today, I put down 50% payment, the rest will get paid when the jerseys are delivered. WooHoo! We did not make the minimum for armwarmers, so I'll be figuring out refunds for all who sent money. Yellow - I'm going to tear up the separate check you sent.

Now the waiting begins....... ***tapping fingers***

Sorry for my tardiness, but yes, they can be altered if'n too big...you need to find a good seamsperson that understands how it's supposed to fit. Ask around at the local bike shops; I'll bet they have someone "on file" if your seamstress is inexperienced. The side panel is a good place to nip & tuck.

Now if it's too small...ferget it. I prefer to get them a little big knowing I have the option of having Rose, my seamsperson of choice, fix it!

Thanks Yellow! That's what I was hoping to hear. I almost skipped ordering one because since I started riding my bike again (all of a month now), I'm down 9lbs. so who knows what size I'll wear next month. :p

Gee, excercise helps you lose weight...who'd a thunk it?? :D

We also have a resident seamstress here on the board - Irulan, that can either help you or do it for you ( I think, sry Irulan if I just overstepped here).

Snap - I just got the email notice regarding the refund, do you or anyone else know: does that just get deposited back into my account?

(such a paypal dinosaur!)

If you paid out of a bank account, it should go back into the bank account. If you paid with a credit card, it should be credited on your account.
