I was just wondering if anyone is doing or have done the Great Ghost Rider Ramble on OCT 3rd, in St. Leon, Indiana. I'm thinking I'm going to attempt the 72 mile route, depending on the weather. Here's the link if anyone is interested:

I did it a few years ago. It's a very good ride. CCC rides are very well organized, as I remember there were some hills (where isn't it hilly in that area) and very little traffic. Routes are well marked. Good dinner at the end. I used to ride with the club, mostly Tues. nite and Wed rides, when I lived in Cincy.

Great Ride, but the longer routes are hilly. You keep crossing the valley with some longer climbs (as least for IN). Fun ride, was my first 80+ miler years ago.

I've done the ride several times and would be doing it this year if I wasn't so busy with moving/getting my old house ready to go on the market. It's a nice ride, especially if the weather cooperates. My only criticism of the ride is that they use white painted ghosts as Dan Henrys. IMO, they're too little, hard to see, and too close to the intersections. It's easy to get lost. When I mark the ride I host for my local club, I put at least one Dan Henry a hundred to two hundred yards back from the intersection, one at the intersection and one after the interesection. The first year I did the ride, some of the people at one of the SAGS joked that you haven't really done the ride until you've gotten lost on it. I didn't think the joke was all that funny. :(
So, I'd encourage you to do the ride, but be sure to carry a map.

Well, I'm sorta getting coldfeet with this ride this weekend. Finally the weather is gonna cooperate alittle. Low 60's only a 20% chance of rain. But the wind is supposed to be 15 to 25 MPH!!!!!! I don't know if I should tackle a personal record of 72 miles in 25 MPH wind!!! I am so on the fence right now. I have to drive an hour and a half to 2 hours to get there!!! I guess I'll just keeping checking the weather and maybe the wind will go away!!!
