Today I had my interview for a position in Seattle (via telephone) - and early on we discovered that one of us is technologically impared, because they hung up on me while linking in the others on the conference call. At least I could answer why do I want to come to Seattle / leave my current job with a straight vanilla answer that's hard to argue against - to get out of the hurricane zone. I think I did OK - no major surprise questions. Am glad I hunted down information on their web site.

I'm also on the list for a job in Walla Walla, but haven't heard about an interview there yet. Supposedly I'm in the top 3.

So maybe I'll be riding my bike somewhere else in the not so distant future. Or seeing if my x-skis are still worthy of use.

Great news; keep going, Beth! Sounds very possible that we'll welcome you to the Northwest TE riders sometime soon!
I'd usually recommend that you pack your rain gear, however I spent most of my recent AIDS ride from NYC to D.C. using my native NY'er colorful language to describe the inclement weather all along the route! (you should still pack your rain gear though)
I returned home to spectacular Seattle weather...ahhhh!

You won't miss the mosquitos that can carry you away?

Very cool prospects Beth, we would like to have the ability to move but not enough equity in our house. :o

I don't have specifics yet, but I'll be heading up to Seattle next week. Flying in on the 14th, and returning to the Big Easy on friday the 16th.

This is listed as a 2nd interview, so I don't know if I'm still competing for a job, or it's a mere formality.

I will have the option to stay longer (rebooking the yet-to-be-booked plane ticket), but boarding two elderly kitties every time I skip town is getting expensive (especially when they want to check / have a valid reason to check Herald's blood sugar), and I have flooring guys coming. And I suppose I ought to get started on cleaning up the place. Maybe repairing the torn window screens.

Look out Seattle, here I come! :D

I'm waiting for the email that will contain my plane tickets confirmation. I should be arriving tomorrow (wednesday), and will be staying at the Marriott near the SeaTac airport. Uncle Sam has decided that I'm not worthy of driving on my own, so I get to use taxis. Anyone for getting together?

Hey Beth,
From your post yesterday, it looks like you might be en route to Seattle right now...I hope that your trip goes well and am sure that you'll nail the interview/close the deal too! How long will you be here?
I am busy from tonight through Saturday morning - with my brand new (1st) grandchild(!), but would love to meet you...let me know if you'll be around a bit longer than just for the interview, ok?
Otherwise, let me know if I can look forward to meeting you as a new Seattle-area T E'er! What's your decision timeline?

+1 to the grandbaby!

My daughter-in-law wrote a blog post about how she's forgetting so much of her children's babyhood. I reassured her with the fact that it all comes rushing back to you when you have grandchildren. :)

Interview went fairly well. Thought I did pretty good. I've been really busy with meetings and revising a document for review by HQ due by the end of the month. When I called wednesday, all I got was person's voice mail.

waiting, waiting..... (where's that icon of the foot tapping???)

Meanwhile, I'm also waiting for my flooring contractor to contact me about when they'll be putting in new flooring in my kitchen and hall. This needed to be done, even if I wasn't comtemplating putting my house on the market.

:( No

"The recruitment that you interviewed for is no longer open, but we do have another vacancy that we need to backfill as soon as possible."

But they aren't sure if they want to offer moving expenses or not. So I'm not holding my breath.

After 4 months, I really don't care. Or rather I've given up. In December, I'd be hurt. But now? The Saints are playing in the Super Bowl, there are Carnival parades, spring will be in the air, there's French Quarter Fest, then Jazz Fest.

Then Hurricane Season, when once again I start thinking that I really really don't want to live here any more.

So now you know.

Aw, sorry it didn't pan out. :(

Hope you find your perfect job soon.
