Yesterday my son said "Hey, Mom, was that you that I passed out on the road a while ago?"

I said "I didn't see you but my head was down a lot of the time."

He said "I think it was you - it looked like your green helmet," and I said "Oh, OK, how'd I look?"

He said "I thought you were a guy, actually."

I really didn't know how to take that! I've never been mistaken for a man before. So I said "I don't know how to take that - I've never been mistaken for a man before,"

So he said "I think it was your stance. I thought you were a really fit bicycle type guy, then after I passed you I remembered your helmet sitting out on the table and realized it was probably you."

Hmm. I guess this is better than last week when he couldn't look me in the face for a few days after he accidentally saw one of my butt cheeks when I didn't have my bath towel wrapped around right.

I'm starting to regret talking him into living at home instead of the dorms. He's around way too much.

I would take it as a compliment!:D

lol.

I have long hair which helps with not being mistaken for a guy, I think.

Mine's long, too, but I had it in a ponytail. Do you wear yours down?

I'll be buying some pink clothes soon, I think.

I kind of thought of it is a compliment but, after all of my trials and tribulations as a woman, I want to be recognized as female.

I have it in a ponytail, and usually i stick the ponytail above the helmet strap that goes on the back of my head. I guess people can only see it when they're coming up behind me though.

But you should take it as a compliment that he thought you were a racer guy :)

Yup, I'm a big gal (5'10" and heavy) and when I have short hair I get called sir (even before my breast reduction when I had E cups), when I grow it out I get called ma'am...seems an odd way to denote gender but that seems to be what people zero in on.

I guess . . . .

You know, all this exercise IS causing a little shrinkage in the boob area. It's had me a little concerned. . . . I wonder if those exercises we learned in health class would help? You know the ones - "We must, we must, we must increase our bust!"

Hmmmmm - the hairstyle makes more difference than the boob size? Now that just doesn't make sense.

I'd better remind my son of this - I've been trying to talk him into getting a haircut for 2 months now. Maybe he'll do it when someone calls him ma'am. :D

I had really short hair and I was training for a marathon, and people always thought I was a boy. I don't get it because even back the before kids I was well endowed. I guess some people have worse astigmatism than I do!

One time when I was riding past a Day Care Center a kid called out, "Hey Bicycle Man - I mean Woman." I was glad he corrected his mistake. It cracked me up!

Yes, for your achievements?

Frankly, I really don't care what others think of me when I'm cycling.

and I look pretty flat because I'm small upstairs below my chin.

C'est la vie. there are worse things in life than have mistaken gender identity (except for the teenage track star athlete that we've heard about a few weeks ago).

back to the OP, remember, this was your son who probably has burned into his memory forever YOUR butt cheek. he's doing his best to process this HORRIBLE memory.
Perhaps a less jaded person would not think you looked like a man!
