After four, long, arduous months sans velo (haven't got a clue how to get the thingimibob over the e via PC keyboard), I put a downpayment on a Gary Fisher Tassajara Disc (http://www.fisherbikes.com/bikes/full_specs.asp?series=genesis&bike=Tassajara_Disc) today. :D YAY! :D Just what I was looking for: a hardtail with a lock-out fork for all the stop-start city riding, a nice set of discs for the fun stuff in the dirt, and in my price range too (just - I'm going to have to live like a nun for the next six or seven weeks, but it'll be worth it). Dealt with two guys at the shop, who were both great - nice sort of low-key helpfulness and niether tried to get me to spend more money than I had. The finance plan is really simple (done through the shop rather than a finance company) and affordable, plus I could put accessories into the plan too. Just have to get all the pieces of paper together for my finance and I can pick her up tomorrow.

Did I mention how freakin' excited I was?!?!? Been grinning like a fool most of the afternoon/evening.

Just look at her, all shiny and stealthy and black (sorry gals, pink just doesn't do it for me :p):

And now, back to your regularly scheduled programming...

Cool bike! I gotta get one like that (too)!!

And to get the é without the French keyboard just press ALT, keep it down and type 130 and depress ALT. Voilà! (For more fun try the other combinations, like ~ (126), â (131), à (133), etc...)

My comp made those little "I'm not gonna do that" sounds when I tried that, but thanks anyway. :)

Enjoy her and tell us her name once you get her home!!!Hmm, you could be waiting a while - not terribly good at thinking up names. I will, however, take suggestions into consideration. ;)

Congrats on the new ride! She looks fabulous, if you don't mind hearing it from someone who doesn't know even the first thing about mountain bikes.

... and if you don't mind my piggybacking on your so freakin' excited!!!!! thread, I just came home with this, thanks to the good guys at the LBS and the gods of financing: http://www.specialized.com/OA_MEDIA/2005/bikes/05Dolce_Red_l.jpg

I'm ready to rock and roll (just as soon as I practice clipping in and out a few hundred more times).

TL and Green... niiiiice!

Not an off-roader myself, Kiwi, as you know... but that bike looks sweet...

And Green, I have found my Red Pony looks pretty damn cool with red tyres, and red bar tape... red is a good colour... (red makes you go faster! :p )

Nice bikes!

Congrats to you both!

Fun, fun, fun!

I am finding the biking a bit "addicting"... I have bought two bikes so far this year... and have a list of others I would like to at least ride. I may not want to own them, but I sure would like to test drive them!

Have fun! :D
