This is a very tragic (and scary) story. New information coming out all the time, but whatever actually happened, the cyclist is the loser in any altercation with a vehicle.

yeah, road rage kills...
:(
Tragic indeed.
Thankfully, in this case, the perpetrator is likely to be somewhat of a looser too, and there is some (cold) comfort in that. He was a likely candidate to run for Ontario Premier, supposedly... Regardless of how this turns out legally, he'll encounter some career roadblocks.
How sad (for the cyclist).
ETA: I just read the full article and I find the reasoning quite interesting...

This story is BIG here. Another perspective is offered below.
It is so challenging to remain impartial when the media spins for you. Each of these two men have such different backgrounds and lifestyles - then they collide and all of our attitudes and thoughts begin to take sides.
I will wait to hear of the video surveillance. My thoughts are with both families.

Makes me think of the movie Traffic.

Am in Toronto at this time visiting family, etc.
Story has stirred up discussion even among non-cyclists. What is abit sickening is now the media is spinning around the probability that the dead cyclist was drunk.. So sad when the witnesses clearly saw aberrant behaviour of the driver (ex-politician, lawyer, etc.).
