Went to the Rocky Mountain Bicycle Show in Denver last Sunday....oh....my....

It's sort of a local/regional version of the North American Handmade Bicycle Show, which now is on my "must do" list. I can't believe how many small craft builders are out there right now! Simply inspiring. If I had the cash to do another custom right now I'd be hard pressed to figure out how to decide. The great thing about this relatively small show is that you could just walk up and chat with these guys (yes, still a dearth of women) and hear about their bikes. Ride 'em, too, if you had enough guts and time.

"Best in Show" award went to the builder that blew me away, too. Renovo. Wood...bamboo and hardwoods....GORGEOUS....and light....and now my savings account has a new name.

Oh, holy moly, that's gorgeous! I just spent way too long drooling over their website, and even DH is intrigued. Now all we have to do is win the lottery (although really the prices aren't that bad!).

That is one of the most beautiful bikes I've ever seen!

Renovo was at the Seattle Bike Show and I must have spent at least 1/2 hour in their booth drooling over all the gorgeous bikes. I asked if they were able to build a long-wheel-base wood recumbent bike. The owner wants to but says the builders don't think it would work well - the bike being so long they don't think the hollow wood would be strong enough. Maybe someday ........ I can always hope :-) Might have to start buying lottery tickets so I can commission one.
