Yesterday I didn't ride my bike, but I did work out. It seems squats and lunges still do a number on my legs/but ~ I'm pretty sore today and want to know if I should still ride my bike?

Was thinking a nice easy slow ride today? Any advice greatly appreciated.

nice easy slow ride. give yourself a good 5-10 miles, see how you feel then.

thanks ~ that's what I was thinking, but since I'm still fairly new to all this, just wanted to make sure. :)

A nice recovery ride goes a long way, as long as you stick to the true meaning of 'recovery ride'. It's nice to spin the legs out, slow and easy, and help get the fluids in motion that will help relieve some of the soreness.

And most importantly, take a good 20 minutes to stretch after you ride.

I alternate weight training in twice a week and find that riding the next day actually helps relieve some of the soreness from lunges/squats. I agree it's best to make it 10-15 miles or so, optimally not involving much climbing. And yes, lots of stretching afterwards, maybe even Yoga. ( =
