My husband and I will be in Seattle Aug 29-Sept 7. We are interested in riding the Burke-Gilman trail. I had names of some places that rent bikes, but after calling today I found out that the rentals are no longer available. Does anyone know of a place to rent bikes close to that trail? Thank you.

Can you tell us what shops you've already called so we don't repeat those names?

Yes, I called Gregg's Greenlake Cycle and the Bicycle Center. The website info for Recycled Cycles looks promising, but I haven't spoken to them yet. Thanks!

These are from the Cascade Bicycle Club's list of rental places and are on or near the BG Trail. We rented our first tandem from either the first or the second, in 2004--can't remember which shop--and took it right onto the trail from there.

I'm a big fan of Recycled Cycles. Their rental bikes are kept up well. They also rent trailers (are you bringing kids?).
RC is half a block from the Burke-Gilman.

+1 for Recycled Cycles - just as Knot said...and I had a great experience recently for a visiting rider friend (from upstate New York), who was here for a conference.
He tagged on some days to visit beforehand, so that we could ride. He brought his shoes, pedals, and gloves with him, then RC did a great job to set him up on a bike he liked, got a helmet, tool kit and bingo! We rode down to Seward Park, as it was right after I got back on my bike and I wanted to show him some more of Seattle than the trail...then, Hales Ales provided a terrific post-ride recovery beverage stop too :D
He has raved about the whole experience here in every email/phone call we've had since...and I expect that'll continue soon, as he'll be on the same AIDS ride with me 3 weeks from now...

Thanks for the helpful info...I will check with Recycled Cycles and Montlake to confirm rental info. Is Montlake Bikes near the B-G trail? We will not be bringing kids, so no trailer is needed.

Montlake isn't quite on the BG but it isn't far away and they could easily tell you how to connect up to the trail. The others are right on/very close to the trail.

I called Recycled Cycles and they do in fact rent bikes and their website has current info, so I think we'll go w/ them. Thanks to everyone for your input!! Thanks for the tip on kid rental, but we're enjoying the empty nest!!
